i believe he was a brobowler in 99 & 02 if im not mistaken, and it's not like 2002 was all that long ago. he led the titans db's in tackles in 03 and had 9 passes def. he missed 13 games last year due to injury but who to say he wouldn't have returned to the probowl, in the three games he played in he had 14 tackles 1 pass def and a sack.
Actually you made my case even better. I was wrong. He didnt go to the pro bowl in 2002 like I said. His one and only pro bowl was 1999 like you pointed out. Making it 5 years since he has been to the pro bowl.
As for having the most tackles out of the Titans DB's in 2003. What does that have to do with him being any good. If that is the measuring stick you want to use then you got to love Griffith. He not only had more tackles then all of the DB's last year but had 40 more tackles then the next closet defensive player on the whole team.
Plus Griffith was apart of a DB core on the Browns in 2004 that helped a D be top 5 in pass D with having one of the bad pass rush to boot. And the same in 2003 they were in the top 10. In 2003 Schulters last year to start, His group DB group that included Dyson and Samari Rolle were 3rd to dead last with a top 10 pass rush to help them out. ***Note - It wasnt all Griffiths or Schulters doing of where their teams were ranked in pass D but they were contributors to it. So it isnt the whole picture but is a big piece of the picture.
As for 9 PD in 2003. That really isnt something that makes a case for him. 61 other DB's that year had more then 9 PD.
Now I will take him for a very cap friendly deal for the life of the contract, and with no ideas of giving him the starting job out right. He would be better then Ohalete, though. But he is by no means the long term solution to the FS problem that we could have next year.
