Controversial high pick and two time Pro Bowler in year 3? Kyler isn't the problem
Not THE problem but a very major one. The kid isn't going to get much better than what we see. I hate to sound like a broken record but history has proven this with highly athletic QBs. They come into the NFL and look very exciting for the first couple seasons and then once teams figure them out and learn how to scheme them it is all down hill. For some weird reason a lot of GMs around the league fail to see this. Name one QB who is very athletic and fast that hasn't fizzled out after a few seasons. Maybe Russell Wilson but he really isn't that same style. Just look at Super Bowl winning QBs. They are all great pocket passers. They are QBs by the very meaning of the word. Patrick Mahomes might be one but he too will fizzle out soon. We already see that starting to happen this year. Brady, The Manning brothers, Roethlisberger, Rodgers, Warner, etc. Those are the types of QBs that give you long term success. They win in spite of their athleticism. The problem is that the athletic QB never really develops because they always rely on their ability to run. That severely hinders their development as a passer. Just look at Manning and Brady. Those guys can be clocked with a sun dial they are so slow. Being slow made them better at their position because they didn't have an alternative to get out of trouble. I can't wait until this obsession with the athletic QB dies out.
