Extended minutes. Chriss needs to go to the Gleague and play himself into shape. Bender needs to come off the bench. Start Peters for a while. The kid is a fantastic shooter, physical rebounder, willing passer, and a smart defender. Let's see if he can do it in the NBA.

At worst he looks like a grinder who can hit from 3. Those guys are useful. I suspect that Monroe and Chandler both will be gone by mid Feb, then we'll get some long looks Peters.

I hope Williams is back by then.

This team would be a lot better with Bledsoe. Makes me hate him all the more.

I think if I was McD, I would have said. “We did not treat him right by sitting him last season. It will not happen again. We are not interested in trading him at this time.” Then I would have played him, while quietly taking offers.

The problem with this team right now is PG and PF. I know we keep saying center, but our poorest production on the floor right now is at the pf position.

Peters floor is Jon Leuer. But who knows, maybe we have a KLove on the bench. He played like KLove at Valpo.

I'd start Bender, but I'd like to see Peters as Bender's backup instead of Chriss at this point.

I agree, it would have been better if the Suns could have traded Bledsoe on their schedule but he cast his own fate by demanding out. IMO, this move was likely orchestrated by him and his agent.

Keeping Bledsoe's would have amounted to fool's gold as the Suns were never going to sign him for the amount of money he wanted. He would have only temporarily made the Suns better, which is why I describe it as fool's gold.

I agree that Chriss needs a wake up call. It would be insane, of course, to give up on him. He just needs some tuff love. G league is tailor made for guys like him right now.

Bender needs more time and more plays designed for him to drive to the basket. I'm excited he's improved his outside shot. Next step is to become two dimensional offensively.

Peters is fine taking minutes as long as we don't mind losing the invaluable veteran influence from Dudley.

Not sure how The Gleague works but the Suns need to use it with these Puppies they have. Derrick Jones dropped 32 points the other night. I would be surprised if Josh Jackson could. I'd be surprised if any of the Suns last three picks could light up NAZ.

Alec Peters scored 34 points a couple of times for the NAZ Suns.

If Derrick Jones can drop 32 points then I suspect anyone on the roster could. That is part of the problem with the Gleague, the dropoff in talent level is so severe that it is hard to gauge anything from it. I suspect most guys who cannot stick on an NBA roster head to europe or china, and the Gleague is left with 2nd round picks hoping to make a roster and flat out scrubs.

I think bringing up Peters is something a lot of us want but we need to watch how often he's brought up, since he's only allowed 45 days on the main roster. I think 10 days or so have been burned already with him just sitting on the bench which doesn't help anyone. Bring him up when either Chandler or Monroe is traded otherwise he's here as insurance in case either Bender or Chriss gets injured. I want to see him play also but I don't think they should rush it.

More than I want to see Peters on the Suns getting minutes I want to see Chriss in the G-League for a couple of weeks. He should go down for no less than 10 days, ideally 2 weeks or 5-6 games. G-League teams play 50 games a year, I believe, that's what they played the last 10 years.

Interesting about the G-League stats now, they have NBA projection for their Per 36 stats. I looked it up for Peters and here they are and they're shown below.

Here is a link his page also, the Per 36 for the Suns are a little better, if you scroll down it lists what his Per 36 would be depending on which team he'd play for. The Per 36 NBA stats shown here are just an NBA average. Here is a link that explains their NBA projections.

According to a team source I spoke with recently, they are very impressed with Alec Peters in NAZ. He's averaging 18 and 8 while shooting 40% from 3. They plan to be careful with using the rest of his 2-way days up in Phoenix but good chance he gets some run in last 15-20 games.

I would wager Chriss , Bender and JJ could not score thirty. I would like to see if they could they sure couldn't in summer league.

Speaking of Derrick Jones Jr., I haven't heard anything about him signing with another team.

Anyone hear any news?

Jones didn't exactly light up the summer league either. Moral of the story, summer league, Dleague, whatever, the intensity and competition level is trash, I take those kind of stats with a grain of salt and a fifth of vodka... because they're meaningless.

I think summer league and developmental league stats do have some meaning. If a player cannot put up huge numbers, that should be a red flag. Someone scoring 25 points means nothing, but someone not being able to score 20-25 should be a huge red flag.

I think it comes down to one fundamental question:

Does the G-League offer better competition and difficulty than college? If so, then it is definitely useful as a stepping stone to the NBA. If not, it's just a waste of time and a really expensive way to stay in shape.

I also don't equate summer league with the G-League because the summer league is so short, it's virtually impossible to get any realistic gauge of a player, let alone their preparation for the rigors of a long NBA season. That "rookie" wall people talk about is the sheer number of games played and there's no way to know how that will work with summer league players. The G-League is a great way to address that.

The most important thing about the G-League--big picture--is not what it now is, but what it can become.

I wanted to post on this thread as well that Derrick Jones Jr. is now with the NAZ Suns.

Let's not forget Derrick Jones Jr. is only 20 years old.

I'm glad to have him back.
