Well I was wrong about JJ, but I got DJ right. I said at the draft that you'd love him and the love fest is on. He'll improve on the fumbles issue. Remember he lacked good coaching in college. I actually believe he will get better. Everybody has bad games, but his body of work will remain impressive.

Good call Harry.

DJ has really emerged as a quality RB and he is learning to do the other things that make a good RB. He picked up some blitz's yesterday to extend the play, ran the middle of the line hard and caught passes. Too bad he didn't get one more yard so he had his first 100 yard game.

DJ has a very bright future. BA said he is like a young Edge James.

I don't see that comparison beyond size. Edge was very slippery, the first guy never got him. I don't think he particularly ran with power, he wasn't go down right away but he didn't seem to drive guys forward several yards which we've seen DJ do. DJ generally runs around or over guys, not much wiggle like Edge had.

I do see it in terms of pass receiving, Edge was always really good at that too as is DJ.

DJ Still reminds me of Johnny Johnson, he's better, faster for one thing, but same upright style and very good pass receiver.

Harry:

I have to believe that as a scout -- identifying a guy who goes in the third round and turns out to be a really good player is pretty much the best

And speaking of being right, how about Mitch's take on Kerwyn Williams.

Very true and did everyone see how the players on the sideline exploded with joy celebrating Kerwyn's TD run. The D players love him because he beats them a lot during practice.

Williams seems to be a very good back too. Its hard to believe we have 4 backs of such quality.

Johnny Johnson didn't have a move in his body. D-J has nice subtle moves.

In addition to having the best WR room in the NFL, I have to think we also have the best overall RB room.

If Stepfon Taylor and Kerwynn Williams are your 4th and 5th string running backs, you basically kick a lot of ass.

Both Edge and DJ are big explosive guys. Beyond that I don't remember enough about Edge's early years, I do recall him getting 1 to 3 yards after contact when he played for the Cards and DJ seems to do that as well.

You can keep being right about you positives and wrong about your negatives, Harry. :D

It was funny, when the announcer not named Tiki or Ronde compared KW to Ellington or Chris Johnson in running style. I was thinking 'Really? What, because he's small? Jeez, terrible team scouting again by these guys.' For some reason, I always remembered KW as being the small guy that ran between the tackles and got the tough yards. But not as a quick, elusive type, like a CJ or an AE. Then what happens, the very next play, KW darts through a hole before you could even blink, looking every bit like Ellington. I don't remember that part of his game but I'll take it!

Yep-------------Its December, (Kerwin Time)! How truly wonderful it was to see him again bursting through the holes and streaking N/S on a direct line to gobble up the most possible yardage before anyone could blink. The perfect compliment to spell DJ after the work horse was catching a much deserved breather late in the game. For a defensive opponent, that little blur of red streaking for ten yards before their reflexes can even recover must be devastating, especially after being pounded on by the 'horse' all game long. One can almost imagine their minds saying "WTF just happened"?

Wonder why no other team pick him up? He'd been released and back on the practice squad.

Let's stay calm about DJ. It was only his first start and he fumbled again but we got it back on a close call. I watched him in pre season training camp and he appears to have it. Exciting, quick fast, strong, can catch, and block. He can be real big in this league. But he is young and has a way to go to say he is number 1.

But one can dream and I'm dreaming he may be our star to come.

I think when a team is desperate for RB help, The Cardinals dumpster is one of the last places you go diving in.

That perception may change a bit after this year. :)

Something tells me he won't slip through again. Not after all the high profile carries he should be getting over the next month or two. Maybe he stays on the roster next year? DJ, AE, KW, Stepfon. That works.

As far as DJ's fumbles, I'm not too worried about that yet. Alot of rookies have that issue, like Adrian Peterson. I remember his rookie year, he put the ball on the ground ALOT. People were wringing their hands over it, some even wondering if he could even make it in the league with all the fumbling. Like everything else, I think it just takes awhile to get used to all the hard core stripping of the ball that goes on in the NFL.

Makes sense, since last year the running game was ranked 31st, IIRC. That was more an indictment on the o-line, not the quality of RBs.

I already liked DJ a lot it's good to seem him succeed but just like the players every time I saw Williams carry the ball I was like, "I really like this Williams guy" and was sorry he didn't make the roster but glad he landed on our practice squad and now he gets to play and I think he's gonna stick and be awesome. I'm the happiest I've been with our RB's since Otis Anderson.

He was very good btw for all you kids who never knew him or saw him play.

The only thing that surprised me more than exposing Williams was that no team was sharp enough to pick him up. He's an outstanding backup! Still think this increases the chances the Cards move Ellington.

I'm not anxious to move Ellington, but pairing him with a reciever and the Cards' first might get the desperately needed pass rusher.
