I was thinking before that I wanted Duncan to play no matter what because if we did win it all some people would say well it was because Duncan didn't play, you got lucky. The thing is though, I think we can even be better next yr... So if we win it all this yr we can always prove we are better than the Spurs next yr with Duncan when we win it all again and we're even better equipped to beat Duncan because of our experiences and the improved play of players like JJ and Amare ;)

There are always injuries and what not. Teams will not get an asterik because an opposing team had a key player injured. It is part of the game, and would not take any legitimacy away.

The Lakers 2000 title, when Duncan missed the postseason, doesn't have an asterisk in people's minds.

who craes if people are injured - if they aren't healthy - they aren't tough enough to win that season - do people with any credence ever say anything about Karl Malone being injured last year? Or Duncan being down the first year the Lakers won - or Sam Cassel being injured last year, or the entire Laker team during the Pistons first year? Injuries are part of the game - bottom line.

Exactly. And every team has the same exact chances of being hit by injuries. Including us, some people might be surprised to know.

The last I heard is that Duncan will be out until the playoffs is he now out for the remainder of the year? If not I think Duncan will play hurt, he's a gamer.

At this point, I'd like us to first get out of the first round. Those are gonna be some tough match ups and to be honest I'm not absolutely confident that we can win any of them. That said, should we be good enough (and lucky enough) to get to the finals, I dont think that people will mention the spurs or duncan and surely there will be no asterisks anywhere.

Huh....some people have short memories. Didn't the Bulls beat us the year we went to the finals against them, and we were minus Manning that year. I remember all the "ifs" at that time. Manning was in his heyday, so I think we should put a bunch of ********* next to the Bulls win!!!

No they didn't. We didn't have manning in 1993. Houston did though in the second round a year later and then again a year after that.

the Bulls beat us without Ced - the Rockets, the first year beat us when Charles' knee required surgery and they beta us the second year after we got Manning who got Joe Kliened at midseason AND Charles screwed up his knee in Gamed 5, again requiring off-season surgery. Those two years hurt the most - if anyone was supposed to have ruled the Jordan-less hiatus years, it was us - we'd come in with a 10 game winning streak, blow through the first round and then take Houston to the brink of elimination before injuries and the noose around our necks would get too tight.
