Allen Lazard.
we have speed guys,...we just need a tall 50/50 guy who wont break the bank.
with all the drama around Rodgers, Lazard should be eager to get away from green bay...and he should be reasonably priced.

We don't have to tear down the studs because the studs are already bare. By the time we manage to replace the 2x4s, get drywall on there, and work on smaller roster issues, Dhop will be gone anyway. There is absolutely no point letting him go for nothing later when he might elevate us from 4 wins to 6, per se.

One of the top WR in FA in a dog crap FA class is going to be reasonably priced? We'll see.

Um, I'm not understanding. Tearing down to the studs keeps the studs in place. Not ripping them out.

Next sentence says we need to replace the studs. You're right--you're just not understanding, but that's a you thing ;)

This roster is cooked. It won't be ready to challenge for the playoffs this year, or even close to it. By the time it is, we'll either ready to be rid of DHop or will be wearing his shiny new contract as a millstone around our salary cap. It is eminently short sighted to grasp at straws and clutch an old WR close because he's still good when he's not going to make a damn bit of difference in whether or not we make the playoffs. Then, by the time a top WR would be able to make a difference, he won't be that guy any longer. Lose-lose.

I'm tired of the team being shortsighted. I want the FO to take the long view and successfully build a roster. Otherwise, why'd we bother getting rid of Keim? Extending Dhop and getting nothing for him later while still not winning is prime time Keim time.

I guess it is you not understanding the phrase.

ASUChris stated tearing down to the studs, which I agreed with. You first say we don't have to tear down to the studs, then say that we have to tear down the studs too.

Ah, I forgot to put a "to" in my initial post so you don't want to understand it. Gotcha. You understand what I'm saying, you just want to employ whataboutism to make it about the metaphor and not the roster, because as we both know this roster is shot. I notice you're kindly ignoring all of the actual substance of the point with no engagement/discussion of the topic at hand.

DCR: Can we make the playoffs this season? Is this roster good enough to be turned into an immediate contender in one offseason?

There, direct and simple questions. No metaphor included. What say you?

Do you think there is any hope that we can resign Anderson, from Panthers? He was awful with us, but wonder if it was more scheme and coaches versus true Xs and Os? I think it's lost, but curious if anyone thinks he is salvageable.

I think Stout missed the "We don't have to tear down to the studs because they are already bare.". Easy enough to see what he meant IMO.

Stout, if I'm wrong please correct me, I don't want to put words in anyone's mouth.

Short answer is no...and I think anyone saying we can in 23' needs a wake up call.

IF we hit gold with our new FO and Coaching staff, then we could possibly see a contending team in 24. If not, then who knows.

Anyone expecting this team to make a worst to first type jump is going to end up sad. Kyler is hurt, we wont even get to see what the "real" offense is until November if we are to believe that Gannon is tailoring it around Kyler.

I truly didn't understand which position you were taking. Now I know.

Yes, but I would put it at around 20-25%.

Contender for SB or the playoffs? When most people say contender they mean SB, and that is an emphatic no for me. With a near perfect offseason, I don't see why there couldn't be a small chance of us making the playoffs.

We’re not contenders so I’m not too concerned about next year. Whoever is playing QB will be worse off without D-Hop but he’s not a spring chicken anymore. He’s got a lot wear & tear and the whole “D-Hop doesn’t miss games” thing is clearly not true anymore. Just 2nd rounder seems light but two day-picks that would come close to first rd value sounds logical.

20-25%? That's not a small chance at all, considering. I think we'd have to have a home run offseason to reach that big of a chance. I view 2023 as a complete waste of effort, so spending more, pushing more money out on the cap, keeping around aging vets, isn't smart policy this offseason for me.

Hop dont have to be 20mil... most likely he gets a new deal instead of an extension. easy to do because he has no guarantees left..... his contract is a benefit in any trade deal.
That's his quasi "no trade" clause. He has to be willing to extent/renegotiate after the trade happens. Means zero if he doesn't want to go there and if there is a shred of truth to him thinking Kyler us garage, but would be go there to catch passes from Tannehill?

Dortch is good enough to be a 3/4 receiver, but not a 2. Cards need to acquire. Assuming they keep Cooper (they dhould), Dortch won’t have to field punts.
While from the small sample size I agree, I'd still like to see a larger work load for an entire season to see if he holds up. He is the second smallest WR in modern NFL history behind Trindon Holliday. Wes Welker is bigger than Greg Dortch. Darren Sproles and Jacquizz Rodgers are also smaller and tied for second for being the 2nd smallest skill players, but they were/are RBs. That makes Greg the third smallest skilled player in modern NFL history.

Not that Trindon only caught 2 career passes and most mainly a returner.

First year bump for a new HC can be a thing. I can see us winning 4 or 5 games, or I can see us somehow winning 8 or 9 games and in the playoff hunt. Too early to tell.

A lot of this depends on Kyler's health and what QB they bring in if he isn't healthy.

This is key...Right now you have Wentz, Brissett, Winston, Hoyer and maybe more available. If I were Monti, I wait until the very last moment possible, to sign someone...just so you know exactly what Murray's timetable will be.

I see our ceiling as 6 wins, unless Kyler is back healthy all year long (he won't be) and he's fixed all his problems (which I doubt). Keim and co have simply left us in an awful position, and with the QB injury to boot, we're in bad shape.

Brown, Conner, and Ertz/McBride are a pretty depressing group of weapons.
The tricky part with Brown to me is that I don't believe we should re-sign him. I don't believe he is worth the contract he wants. Turned out to be a bad trade and if I can get something back better than a 3rd rounder, might as well do it.
