Thought I would try a poll to see what everyone's thinking regarding a trade?
My gut feeling is that a deal has already been agreed upon and either Shawn or Amare has already been traded. I really, really hate saying this but as I sit here writing this post, I have a bad feeling that it's Amare. What do you guys think as we sit right now in the early Monday morning hours?

Amare. I think that we've been seeing the writing on the wall for awhile now with the callouts from Nash, D'Antoni, and Raja.

if amare goes, i have no problem with it. at this point, i trust the folks up top, and there's more stuff about him that we don't know than any other guy on the team (attitude issues and knee issues). if they're sitting here knowing amare isn't going to last one way or the other, i trust that.

that being said, i just find it unfathomable that steve kerr gets hired and 10 days later his first move is to rid himself of the guy that sarver is in love with.

one more thing, if kg comes here, i see him going curt schilling on us and going up to a level where people again think of him as top 3. also, if the suns win a title because of it and then we have to watch amare dominate for 10 years while the suns suck, its still worth it.

You're probably right that it would be worth it, but I fear that we would all be whining on this board for the next 10 years as Amare dominates the league.

I think the "chemistry" issue is blown out of proportion...the Suns don't have a chemistry problem...a little professional jealocy perhaps...but no major problems...they still chest bang each other on the bench when a team mate does well...

...Kerr would have to be an idiot to blow the team up...

...Nash, Raja, Marion, Barbosa, and Amare are the core...and they'll still be here after the draft.

If we are getting a lotto pick, it will more than likely be a package of picks and minor players. I can see:

1. Atlanta's 2008 #1 + #24 + #29 and a player like Banks...to Atlanta for pick #11 and Tyronn Lue. Teams like Charlotte have been stockpiling lotto picks since they came into the League and they aren't sniffing the playoffs...I think Atlanta wants their pick back...can you imaging if they don't make the playoffs this year...with no 2008 first round pick to improve the team...and the ping pong ball gives the Suns their bonanza? Banks gives them the point guard they need....and they have additional picks to package for another veteran to team up with JJ...and they have their unprotected pick back in case they suk...who are we kidding...WHEN they suk.

2. Iavaroni likes Boris...we give Memphis #11 and Boris for #4. They add a veteran playmaker who can contribute immediately...more quickly than a rookie...good for both first year coach Iavaroni and Gasol...and they still have a lottery pick...and they didn't have to give up a player to add veteran talent.

The Suns keep the core intact that was probably the second best team in the League last year...knock $9mil off their payroll...have KT's and Lue's expiring $11.5 mil deals off the books next year while making a title run...

...add Grant Hill and Noah/Brewer/Conley/Yi...keep the core intact for less $$$...

The Suns need a tune up, not an overhaul. The KT deal is dead...no way are they adding a $26mil player (salary + trade kicker)...they have to listen to offers...but it just doesn't work...and they aren't trading Amare...and the Lakers aren't trading Kobe to a Division rival. Period.

Hope Shawn (or Bell...), Bells value should be high and I dislike him anyway, in this case I would happily bring in Brewer to play the 2.

I could not agree with this more.

For a team with alleged "chemistry problems", the two show no signs of having a serious problem when it comes time for tip off. I really don't care if they get along off the court, as long as they do their jobs on it and are professional enough to put whatever differences they have to the side come game time. Thus far, I've seen nothing that shows me either is unwilling to do that.

...Kerr would have to be an idiot to blow the team up...

The problem really isn't Kerr's doing though. The facts are, this will be the same roster, with little tinkerings here and there as long as the current contracts remain on the books. While I personally am not at all opposed to the idea of having the core remain in tact, I know some here have the thought process that this core can't win a title and the call for drastic measures (i/e splitting the core and trading one or two major cogs for Kevin Garnett or Kobe) has begun. Truthfully, when you look at what the Suns' needs are, the two biggest appear to be a young PG, depth and another big man. I think they can get two out of the three in the draft (which ultimately adds to their depth anyhow) and if they get Grant Hill on the cheap, they'll be running 8-9 deep. That to me is pretty damn good.

I would jump for joy if things played out like this. The Suns wind up with the 4th pick, they can take either Brandan Wright, who reminds me a hell of a lot of a young Chris Bosh, or Al Horford (who behind Durant and Oden is the most NBA ready player in the draft) or they can hope Atlanta passes on Conley and the Suns themselves would take him. With the deal playing itself out like this, I can't see any reason why the Hawks would pass on Conley, especially with no 11th pick and honestly Marcus Banks isn't much of an upgrade over what they have. Either way, if this wheeling and dealing lands this team Horford or Wright, Steve Kerr needs commended. Knocking the contracts off the books works even moreso.

Period.

You hit the nail right on the head. If it ain't broke, why fix it?

I guess I'm the only one so far who would have voted "both".

It looks like Amare for KG is the deal on the boards now, whether we like it or not.

But we'd still need someone bigger than a Small Forward sharing C/PF (interchangeable on the Suns, but we need two in the starting lineup).

Marion no longer plays like a Small Forward and Diaw is an undersized PF as well. I'd like to keep Diaw as a backup (Point) Forward, but Marion would best be utilized somewhere else, even though he doesn't seem to accept it.

I think Marion will be traded in the deal already mentioned to the Celtics. He will be convinced not to opt out on his contract.

I think Marion is gone as well. I just don't think the team will move Amare. Could you imagine though if both happen? Who in their right mind would have thought that going into the next season the team would trade away both their all-star forwards? People would say the Suns are crazy.

I just don't see it happening. One will go and I am betting on Marion.

Chemistry Issue

I agree that the chemsitry issue was blown out of proportion.... but that was at the end of the season.

After all this trade talk, and Marion's name being thrown around and him supposedly refusing to go to Boston, I feel as if chemistry issues will now be an issue.

So based on that, I think its inevitable that Marion has to go for chemistry issues.

I think it is just as likely the Boston thing will reduce the chemistry issue. If Marion starts whinning, all D'Antoni has to say is "well, it was you that didn't want to be traded to a team where you'd get more attention."

Last October, D'Antoni scheduled the trip to Italy in order to focus on team bonding. I don't know what he has in mind for this year, but it is his responsibility to deal with these issues.

I think these issues can be dealt with. IMHO, it is easier to deal with chemistry issues than to retool a team that has had so much success.
