I've had Sunday Ticket since DTV's inception (94-95 was it?)

If this merger goes through... I'm done, I suffered with AT&T and there crappy service, non existent customer service for years on the broadband and wireless front, Never again!

It will be a sad day, but I won't hesitate for a second, I'll probably have to give them $300 or so to cancel, as I just upgraded my equipment and got roped in for a 2 year contract.

Forever, I have been able to reach a human at DTV in less than 1 minute.. That will go to 30 mins plus to reach a complete untrained idiot the day after the merger, bank on it.

Man I hope this doesn't happen!!!

Don't jump ship before it actually hits an iceberg. Even if ATT acquired DTV wait to see if the customer service is negatively affected.

Even if it gets passed by the FCC it would probably take close to a year to be completed and AT&T to make the changes they are going to make. I doubt they want to be a satellite provider they will just push all the DTV stuff through UVerse

Hm... I've never had a problem with at&t's customer service on the wireless side. Every time I've had a problem, they've been great.

I thought people over reacted about the draft.

Their wireless Internet customer service goes from good to terrible depending on who you talk to. Sometimes I have to hang up and call back for someone better, one of their operators told me to do it.

They do.

This isn't an over reaction though, it's a well thought out course of action, for a company that has screwed me over... time and time again.

How often do you need to use customer service anyway? If it's frequent they suck anyway. BTW, I have DTV and their service has been good.

Exactly FWIW I've had ATT wireless for like 6 years now and it's always been great. No service issues. Only had one issue ever where I had to call customer service and they were as good as I'd expect from anyone, I went over on my data and called to adjust my plan and they refunded me, switched my data plan, did it all smooth sailing.

With DTV?

once a year, to bitch about the price of Sunday ticket and get it for *free

* which usually means re-upping my 2 year contract... But I never cared about that.. I had planned on being a lifetime customer.

I thought I read DTV was still going to be the Sunday Ticket provider and this was about broadband to DTV customers.

Besides, about 5 years ago, you couldn't get worse customer service than what DTV provided. They addressed that and have been pretty good over the last few years.

The real question is how this may affect the contract status between the NFL and DirectTV. Will the NFL try to use this as an out to pursue an even more lucrative contract somewhere else? Can the NFL get out of the contract if AT&T absorbs DirectTV? Can the contract be considered null and void with the merger? The NFL is all about money and I feel pretty confident if they see an opening to get more money they will not hesitate to do so.

same with any company, I do it all the time. Customer service people get a base salary with very little incentive. Some people have great work ethic or want to move up while some just punch in, collect money and leave. If you get that rep, hang up on em. I went through 3 last time I had a sprint issue. The third one was awesome.

I read AT&T may pull out if the nfl doesnt come with. Also that the nfl hasnt been courting new business.

I haven't done my annual call to DTV to complain about the price of Sunday Ticket yet. Have any of you done it?
It seems they're going to have more games on broadcast (CBS) which are available to the general public. That by itself should lower the price, I would think.

The games that are going to be added are just the Thursday night NFLN that will be simulcast. It doesn't affect the ticket in anyway.
