Then I really hope Arians considers giving Ryan Williams a chance to start. The thought of Alfonso Smith carrying the load is enough to make me puke.

IF he doesn't play in the future, I hope all carries go to Ellington and Taylor. No Fonso. RW, meh.

I agree. That kid E******* looks really talented. Already better than Ryan Williams ever was or will be.

I'm pretty sure Ellington is #2 on the depth chart - so if mendy is not playing Ellington would likely share the load with Stephen Taylor.

I hope Ellington gets the carries too.. Besides Honey Badger.. The two rookies that really stood out to me at camp were JaRon Brown and Ellington.. Taylor had nice carries in pre season.. I actually think a thunder and lightning of Taylor and Ellington would be good combo.. Even though BA has said he likes a 4 down back..

I can not find it inside myself to root for Mendenhall.. As long as he does his job you wont hear from me about him.. But the minute he slips up Im gonna be all over him.. Just so you know Shane.. :D You damn filthy Mendenhall lover..

I think Ellington's role will be expanded cause they'd be crazy not to play him more. But I still think Taylor would take over as the every down back if Mende didn't play.

I saw a ton of Clemson games during Ellington's career and was absolutely amazed that he lasted until the 6th round. The Combine 40 time of 4.6 was not at all a good indicator of how fast he plays on the field. The kid has serious skills. Whenever I watched him at Clemson he reminded me of Clinton Portis.

If Mendy can't go, it will be a matter of "next man up." But forget about the depth chart - what we have are 2 different RB positions: (1) Feature Back (Fonzi and Taylor) and (2) Passing Down Back (Ellington and R Williams).

Who we use (& when we use them) will depend on matchups, game-situation and what Arians is trying to accomplish down by down.

Barring (knock on wood) additional injuries, I feel pretty good about the RB's we've got. Less so about our run blocking, but it seems to be showing a little improvement thus far.

Jeff...BA has said he does NOT consider Ellington to be a third down back and said he's confident he can "carry the load".
