Suggestions for alternative thread titles:

1. If Nash is extended, will more than 20 people care?

2. If Nash is extended, will more than 6 people like it?

3. If Nash is extended for a big salary, will fewer than the entire purple planet minus 6 think it won't be another weird Steve Kerr move?

How about:

4. Will Nash make the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame?

Management is ********

Nash will get a raise

More scrubby PG will score 40 on us on a nightly basis.

We'll be bad but just bad enough to get a 14th pick in a draft.

Management will pick another crappy player.

Resign or sign a garbage player to complement Nash.

Lose again....

uh, we don't have that draft pick. so no, we won't be picking another crappy player. we won't even have that opportunity. yay!

MORE money for nash? here's the door buddy . . .

I will withhold judgement on the matter until something official happens, an agent talking about Nashs' plans does not mean much to me. I doubt Nash is wanting a big payday think he just wants to see what the Suns are going to do before doing and extension and see where it goes from there. I do not think he needs a raise if they extend him it should be a deal to relieve the Suns cap number not increase it.

And what on earth would lead you to this conclusion? You better have a pretty good explanation, it seems like the person he has chosen to represent him has explained that he expects Nash's next contract to exceed 13-14 mil per.

If we extend Nash at any more than 7 million per, it will be a huge mistake.

I have no trouble keeping Steve Nash at a more reasonable salary if he were granted a two year extension. However, Nash wanting more than than 13.1M a year in an extension is unreasonable. Actually one year at 13.1M is excessive but that was his original contract.

Where we disagree, you dislike Nash as player whereas I like Nash as a player... but not at the proposed salary. I was hoping Nash could provide the Suns an orderly transition to the future and retire as a Sun. The Suns better be thinking PG in the draft or trade. In many ways, it is better that Nash creates the environment for a trade rather than the Suns.

In a way this sort of reminds me of Marion. I always liked him as a player but not at 17M. I bet his new contract will considerably be reduced way down.
Come on Mainstreet.....,if you can find anywhere on this board in the last 2 yrs where i've even hinted at disliking Nash as a basketball player...nvr mind, you won't.

Where we disagree is in style and philosophy of successful basketball.
I very much like Nash as a person and as a player....It just so happens that as long as he's a member of the SUNS we're going to continue to play the style that i've ,quite frankly, seen enough of and don't believe in....thats the truth.
If Nash was willing to take more of a supporting role on this team and let the basketball people manage and the coaches coach without passively dictating how this team should play ball then i'm all for him remaining here and retiring as a SUN.

Unfortunately it hasn't happened that way.

The ONLY reason i see this latest news of Nash wanting a pay raise as GOOD news is because it could signal his departure, which sucks as a fan of Steve Nash....but for fans(like myself) who are sick & tired of this SSOL crap , we may finally get out from under it.
As i've stated before, imo letting D'Antoni walk & subsequently holding on to Nash & a couple other of D'Antoni guys was an ignorant mistake on GM Kerr's part. Shoulda brought Porter(or whoever) in, along with a revamped roster....

(Hypothetically)Its almost like if the SUNS had either traded or let Nash walk last year...and then extended D'Antoni:shrug:??

These two men(coach & player) were brilliant together.
D'Antoni is gone.
Gentry is no D'Antoni.
SSOL will never be the same here again without Nash and D'Antoni.
Nash is aging.
I love the guy but it's time to move forward by taking a step back...imo.
It only makes sense.

It sounds to me like you're saying Nash and D'Antoni were brilliant together. I must say I agree. It's an interesting distinction that you like Nash as a basketball player although you don't like the way he plays. I guess you probably liked DA as a coach but not the way he coached.

This is not quite exactly what he meant. You could also say "the way he has been used". That's why no team with Nash playing 'that way' can ever win a championship. It might change once he offensively is used, or starts playing, like Stockton or Billups, which Nash is talent wise capable of emulating.
