Perhaps of interest to the Indianapolis Colts, the future of tight end Mark Andrews with the Baltimore Ravens seems to be up in the air.

When Ravens' GM Eric DeCosta was asked about possibly trading Andrews during the NFL draft, he didn't exactly close that door.

"Oh man. I never know what's gonna happen ... I would never want to say this or that," DeCosta said via CBS Sports. "But I can tell you this: Mark Andrews is a warrior. And he's played his butt off for us and his competitiveness, his talent, his attitude, his leadership is so valued here. And he's a great player … We're in the business of keeping as many great players as we can. There's always a lot of unpredictability with the draft. You just never know."

This, of course, is a position for the Colts where there is a major need for them, specifically when it comes to the passing game. Last season, the Colts' entire tight end room combined for just 467 receiving yards, and the team hasn't had a tight end eclipse 500 yards in a season since 2018.

So, naturally, CBS Sports selected the Colts as a landing spot for Andrews if he is traded.

Andrews has surpassed 500 receiving yards every year he's been in the NFL. This includes totaling 761 yards with 11 touchdowns in 2024. His best season as a pass-catcher came in 2021, when he recorded 1,361 receiving yards. He was then just shy of 1,000 yards in 2022.

However, not to be forgotten about when playing tight end in Shane Steichen's offense is that player's ability to hold up as a run-blocker. For what it's worth, Andrews ranked 54th in PFF's run-blocking grade a season ago.

With a base salary of $7 million this season, the Colts could likely find a way to absorb Andrews' contract if they were to acquire him.

But the most challenging part, perhaps, is that the Colts would have to part with draft capital to acquire him, and with only seven picks in total, it's not as if they have an abundance of selections. That then reduces the Colts' ability to address other needs because they have fewer picks.

In addition to that, with Andrews in the final year of his deal, tight end, to a lesser degree, could still be a need in this draft, unless they plan to extend Andrews. However, that will require more future cap space and comes with risks, given that he has missed time with injuries and is nearing 30 years old.

On the surface, we see the productive player and the need that the Colts have, but digging in, there are several other important factors that dictate whether or not this is a realistic idea if Andrews is actually available.
