He'll go back. But I don't think for long. Kennedy is probably on his way out. And Hudson is coming back soon.

They have to find a place for him somewhere in the rotation after his performance so far...

He'll go back down for now but these things tend to work themselves out, and likely will here soon as well. Especially with Miley, McCarthy, and Kennedy hovering around 4.50 ERAs.

I'd love to see him stay up at least another start to see if this is a fluke or if. He's really the pitcher we thought he could be. Six man rotation?

I doubt a six man rotation is a possibility. I think he will probably be in the starting rotation after the All-Star break unless someone in the rotation is really struggling.

It'll be interesting to see who's moved to make room for Skaggs and Hudson. If I had to take a stab at it I'd say Kennedy and McCarthy

Looks like Hudson could be back sooner than we thought. It will be interesting, that is for sure. Then wait until next year when Archie could not the verge of coming up.

“The light at the end of the tunnel is getting a little bit brighter now,” Hudson said after throwing four innings against Los Angeles Angels minor-leaguers in an extended spring-training game at Salt River Fields.

Hudson threw 53 pitches, giving up two runs on five hits, walking none and striking out one.

Hudson said he was scheduled to throw a bullpen on Monday and pitch in another game in extended spring training on Thursday, but he declined to spell out a target date for his return to the majors, though the team has been saying a return in June isn’t out of the question.

2014
Skaggs, Corbin, Bradley, Hudson, Cahill, Kennedy, Miley, McCarthy and maybe even Delgado.

Based on that, Bradley may have to wait a year. McCarthy is too expensive to move since he will make $9 million next year, so unless we pay part of his salary next year, I think we are stuck with im. Cahill makes 7.7 million next year and then 14 million the next year, so I think that makes him lock. Kennedy still has some abritration time left, so I think he does get moved now.

This is what I see next year and in this order. Then, who ever struggles between Cahill and Miley, you insert Bradley after the All Star Break next year.

Corbin
Hudson
Skaggs
Cahill
Miley

Towers will get to trade away one of our less productive guys for more pieces. Just has to wait for the right offer.

I vote Kennedy and Miley

Ian Kennedy has peaked and is no longer an ace of the staff type. He is a decent #2 or #3 and would probably bring back decent prospects and maybe a near major league ready player. I love Miley the competitor but I always thought last year was a career year for him. His peak trade value was this past off season. In a staff where you have Corbin and Skaggs he is excess from the left side. I think Kennedy and Miley are the odd guys out believe it or not.

Whoever struggles gets dropped in order to give Bradley a chance.

That makes the most sense since Miley makes peanuts and Kennedy makes what he should. Since salary is as much a part of it today as anything else, they are the two that can get the most in return right now. I would just hate to give up on Miley, but I think are right about what he is.

I am sure they could get a pretty good return for Kennedy. I would like to see them hold onto their pitchers until they know if any of the guys on the dl will be back at 100%.

Don't be too quick to write off McCarthy just yet. The guy has been completely dominant in his last 3 outings. I do agree that Kennedy is likely gone after this season.

I heard Gambo and Burns speculate Kennedy being possible trade material before the season ends a couple of weeks ago. It had never entered my mind, but if you can get something for him this year with a contract left that wouldn't scare some off, why not?

I don't necessarily disagree. He has been pretty lights out recently.

I guess there are worse problems than having too much talent!

I'm in the big apple on a business, and the top sports talk show guy (Mike Francessa), is saying that the Dbacks will be a top contender to land Phil Hughes next off season. Said the Yankees won't re-sign him next year...
I've got mixed feeling on Hughes and wouldn't be too disappointed if be never makes it to AZ...

Brandon McCarthy will still be in the rotation next year, IMO.

I don't think you can ever count the Yankees out for overpaying for a free agent...

I hate the thought of giving up on Miley because he cares so much and competes so hard but frankly he is the least talented of the group and he may have thrown his arm out. Remember the "dead arm" episodes.

Why would we need to spend a boat load of money on Hughes? We already have one awful contract with McCarthy. That's enough. Too many good young pitchers in our organization. Just say NO to Hughes. Rather spend big money on a big basher if one is available.
