Adrian Wilson bleeds Cardinal red. His cred with the players is through the roof. His passion for the game is non pareil.

I believe that making AW the HC would fire up this organization like never before. With veteran coordinators, AW would be able to get in every player's ear and cultivate the proper mindset.

Bettcher never played in the NFL. Wilson has way more cred. If you were a player, who would you want to listen to at half-time of a big game?

Go back and listen to this man...fast forward to the 3:14 mark.

Listen to AW at the 4:40 mark...what his life goal has always been.

Yeah it takes a lot more to be an NFL head coach than some some half time speach dude.

This is by far the craziest thread you've ever posted

Let me ask you (and everyone) this---if Kurt Warner went to MB&SK and expressed his desire to be HC, you would not even consider it?

No. Imagine if he failed as HC of the Cardinals. His legacy would be completely turned on its axis.

Wilson in my opinion has too much luv for the Cardinals. His excitement would make him not the best guy to manage a game, remember how he was the first guy on the field to congratulate Larry when he scored against the Packers in the playoffs, except he was not on the roster... the dude is a hard hitting safety which means he concentrates on one target and cannot multitask lol

Mike Singletary was a GREAT player, He would give his pants for a shot to be our HC,,,,
At least we'd have a pair of pants to show for it.

I'm not sure I'm on board yet with AW being one of our scouts.

To make him HC would be to revisit the days of Larry Wilson as GM. Both great players. Not sure either is/was ever prepared for those roles.

Personally, I won't flip out if Betcher gets the HC gig, so long as he replaces Amos and Goodwin, and brings in Pagano as DC. I like the D as it stands and like keeping things consistent there.

I don't think I stated it elsewhere, but my preferences are:

1. Wilks
2. Shurmur
3. Betcher

I'd be intrigued with Munchak as an OC for any of the above 3.

Go Cards!!!
If pagano is calling the plays on D then what in the world is bettcher doing? Meddling with the offense? Why does he need to be the HC lmao what qualifies him? A month ago we were debating here if was even qualified to be DC.

No HC from within imo no one here deserves it period! AW could be a DB coach I think though...
While I wouldn't make them HC or even coordinators, I'd like to retain Buckner and Leftwich in some sort of capacity. I think Adub could eventually be a good DB coach.

Any particular reason why you don't like Shurmur?
For starters 5-11. Just very average. His wins as head coach which were 10 which he was lucky to get number 10. Take a look at his wins in 2 years. Lots of low scoring barely able to pull it out wins. Easily could have been 2 or 3 win seasons.

Look at this fun stuff. His first year 4 wins
#1 Indy 27-19
#2 Miami 17-16
#3 Seattle 6-3
#4 Jax 14-10
Went 1-8 to end the season. Yes I can't wait.
If I post year 2 I may need to seek counseling

Can't help myself
Year 2 for Shurmy
Started 1-6
For those counting at home after his glorious 6-3 triumph over Seattle he went 2 -14. But I shouldn't care about these stats cause you know it's the Browns....he didn't draft...sign free agents....just stop

You're right. First time coaches never fail and that's who they are. I mean Pete Carroll finished last his first year as a HC. Bill Belichick had one winning record his first 6 years as a HC. Jimmy Johnson was 1-15 his first year. How could Pittsburgh possibly keep Chuck Noll after a 1-13 start. I may drive to Canton and take down his bust. That bum of a coach Tom Landry went winless his first year and never had more than 5 wins his first 5 years. Scrubby Bill Walsh was 2-14 his first year.

Being that Shurmur was working for a dysfunctional organization like Cleveland should also be discarded.

Who is your choice and what are his sterling credentials?

In 2011, the Browns were 3-6 in games decided by a TD or less. In 2012, they were 2-6. If anything, they suffered from bad luck in their record being so bad.

Mike Matheny went from managing a little league team to managing the St. Louis Cardinals. Depending on who you talk to, its turned out pretty good. He did inherit a world series winner and led them to the playoffs the next 4 years, but haven't been there since. However, they did coax Jose Oquendo, who is kind of like a coordinator, back to be 3rd base coach so we'll see. But seriously, as far as AW, I'm all for him becoming a coach, but I think he should probably start out in a limited assistant role.
Mike had a strong mgt/assistant supprt staff to lean on (including Jose Oquendo - who is returning as an asst coach).

Also - I think required coaching skills differ between bb & fb - it's a lot more bang-bang in pro football and more deliberative in baseball.

Very good point....but he wasn't allowed to get more years. Why? Was it because they knew he didn't have it? I hope he can do wonders for us. I don't like the reports of him being a package deal with Keenum. I prefer the package of Betch...Pagano and McCoy. But I'm just a fan who's terrified this team will hire a guy I feel will not make us better but take us back. We shall see

According to this, it's because he couldn't develop Trent Richardson and Brandon Weeden. Turns out no one could.

The concerning thing is that apparently he had a pretty contentious relationship with the Cleveland media. That's a problem for a head coach, and I think that's one of the reasons the Cards want to have someone in and interact with our media.

I was just gonna ask how Mike Pettine doesn't have a job in the NFL, but apparently he just got nabbed by the Packers to be their DC.
