If the Suns sign PJ Brown, is everybody happy?

I'd be perfectly fine with it. On the court I think it's a lateral move, so it'll would essentially come down to trading to future first-round draft picks for around $10 million and a large trade exception. It's not a move that excites me, but I won't be upset.

Like, if PJ Brown was your father who abandoned you as a child, but he came back to your team to help them win a championship for the minimum. And you were a little drunk when you heard the news. Then you might be maudlin.

Because it's not an exchange. The Suns should have kept Thomas, period, and additionally tried to get Brown for the minimum. Making a move you should have made in the first place doesn't erase a move that was outrageously stupid and indefensibly self-destructive. And if Brown wasn't available before, he isn't available now either.

The Suns need three competent big men, counting Stoudemire. They've dropped down from two to one; it will be no cause for celebration if they manage to crawl their way back up to two.

I think I'd be a little more than content, but not exactly happy. I'd like that Brown is taller than Thomas, and does most of the things KT does just as well. I also like that he'd be much cheaper. I also don't really mind losing the first round picks because they would've been sold anyways. I am surprised, however, that the Suns had to give up two first round picks to get rid of KT. Regardless, I think that if the Suns signed PJ brown they'd be just as good and saved money in the process.

Angry. It's like a guy mugs you and then decides not to stab you while he's at it. Yes, it could have been worse, but it still sucks.

Heh, you're quoting me and yet I do agree with you. I know it's rather pathetic that I don't mind because of the low expectations they say up. Actually, I really don't care about the Suns first round pick next year at all. I'd trade away that pick if I was in the FO. I just can't believe you have to add picks to Thomas in order to get a trade exception. The 2010 pick could have some value, but I still think the Suns are going to be quite good by then.

We were desperate to dump money and the only team willing to take it on needed significat compensation because they could have used the trade exception in a lot of different ways.

Not happy, but it was clear that Sarver would not pay $10M luxury tax and shipping Kurt's salary was the obvious move - losing another two 1st rounders will hurt though. So I would be content with PJ who can rebound and play pretty good defense (but definitely not an upgrade over KT).
