this may be the most galling sentence in sports history. No fan should just expect their team to flat out sell every first round pick, especially first round picks for a team who's window is closing fast and needs to start building while continuing on in the future.

the fact that you don't mind this because you expect the FO to sell them anyway is a horrific indictment of what is quickly becoming in my eyes a pathetic FO.
The only reason it isnt real bad to dump low first rounders is because you can use that money on veterans.

I dont like it, but it isnt as bad as it seems "IF" they use some of the savings to improve the team.

Although the best way to stay under the cap is to fill out the bench with rookie contract players since that is the cheaper contract.

Neither here nor there. If they replace KT with PJ and save 14 mill or so It's hard to blame them for it.

i'd rather have possible youngs than Pike/Marks any day of the week.

Don't you remember the draft threads? There was no one worth getting with the picks the Suns sold(yet Tucker, Strawberry and George are all going to make an impact this).

I will not be angry if we sign Brown, but I will still be angry that we downgraded from KT. Which option is that?

I really don't think Brown's a downgrade from Kurt Thomas. Defensively I would say he's probably a slight upgrade, especially since we seem to be grading everything on how it matches with San Antonio. On the boards they are probably about equal, and offensively P.J. Brown might be a very, very slight downgrade.

Despite what I said earlier that 2010 draft pick does bother me. At the very least it should have some reasonable protection... like top 15.

Kerr said PJ Brown was the first guy they contacted this morning, but his agent said he's learning toward retirement rather than playing.

Kerr said this RIGHT AFTER explaining the KT move because KT didn't fit the system. Kerr's exact words were: "KT's more of a plodder. He just doesn't fit our system, which is small and quick."

So I think it's funny the first call they made was to PJ Brown, who is neither small nor quick. It was even funnier when Kerr said Grant Hill signing made KT more expendable, and then said Sean Marks would be an adequate reserve at center if it came down to it.

exactly my thoughts as well. you know what, if you're gonna make these moves, fine - I don't agree with them, but fine. Just don't treat your fans like they're freaking ********.

Angry.

We gave up two firsts for an expiring contract! BTW, no indication whatsoever that there is any protection on them. Rookie GM mistake.

Let's just say its 2010 and Shawn's gone as a FA, and Nash goes down. . . .

Hey, we got a conditional second rounder.

Kerr's interviews just made me angry. I hate the word flexibility now.

I would be happy if we got him and Ely as KT's departure leaves us with a need for two bigs for depth purposes.

LOL I thought maudlin meant emotionally bereft but appharently it means overly sentimental.

No choice really applies then.

Exactly. Steve Kerr cannot possibly truly believe this crap he is spewing. I may go off the deep end when Seattle gets another first-round draft pick to trade Kurt Thomas to one of the other contenders for a title at the trade deadline.

It's as if Seattle looked back and saw how badly the Utah Jazz reamed in that Tom Gugliotta deal and decided they could get roughly the same for Kurt Thomas. At least in that case groups was completely worthless as a player. This Phoenix Suns team needs Kurt Thomas or something like him if they are going to win a championship.
