Then I'm going to make a statement which does sound absurd but could be a distinct possibility. I honestly believe that BASK is true to the standard of having the best possible players on the team and will replace even depth guys if they can find something better because I have never seen a Cardinal team so active in bringing in guys constantly. I know Arians said Palmer has some years in him (and he is our QB for all intent purposes of the near future) but there has to be a reason they still have Lindley on the roster. Arians brought in Stanton but kept Lindley. There was nothing stopping them from getting rid of Lindley in the constant search to upgrade all positions. Lindley does not cost much but so would other options from last year's draft which leads to this one. Lindley played so bad when the kid got his chance so early, it very well could be it was too much and way too soon with a coach who was not the right fit to give him the help he needed with a OL that was an abomination. If we do not draft a QB, I honestly believe BASK and Moore see more in Lindley then we might imagine... which is hard for fans (me included) to realize. If they do not draft a QB this year, they really like Lindley and for me actions speak louder than words with a organization which is now constantly looking forward

They sure dumped Skelton quickly lol

I really think you're reading too far into this. Lindley is our #3 QB. I think Keim and Arians weren't really worried about who their #3 QB was especially since they brought in Stanton. Nothing about Lindley is extraordinary and screams that he is the future of our franchise. He's just a cheap 3rd-string QB. You shouldn't be expecting or even thinking that he will climb the depth chart like a Tom Brady.

I think Lindley was a 6th rd rookie QB who was thrown to the wolves way too early. BA believes a QB doesn't learn anything sitting on the bench so maybe that was Whiz's theory as well. At that point Kolb was injured and Bones was playing like ...... Double Deuce.

I haven't written Lindley off but wouldn't be shocked if his replacement is drafted in the next two years.

It is interesting to me also that they kept him. But, as Cardiac said, a 3rd string QB isn't really that critical to replace or upgrade.

I remember Jaworski saying that Lindley would be a project but he thought he would be very good 4 or 5 years down the road. From what we saw that seemed pretty outlandish but who knows?

In last year's preseason games, I thought that Lindley looked better. That being said I don't believe the team will draft a QB, and that is because we need to draft players who can step in and play right away. As BASK have said we're 2-3 players (each side of the ball) away from being an elite team. Between FA and the six pick draft we'll hopefully put a dent into that number.

Didn't he do well his first game (well, for a first game anyway)? Thought he did ok, then his next game the wheels fell off????

If QB is the most important position on the field, to me even your third stringer means a lot... especially under the auspice of the current regime of always getting better. It makes no sense at all to keep Lindley just because you need a practice guy or someone to simply fill a void when the whole roster appeared to be in flux whenever they thought they could get better (we saw this on the practice squad). I know this, they have to see a lot more potential than the hell of his first starts to hold on to him. Maybe he is not the franchise QB but maybe the eventual replacement in their eyes to the backup Stanton... that is an important role :)

LOL! There were a lot of QBs that we never should have drafted much less played. The old track record shall not reflect on our new track stars, who can track much better. Keim gets a scent and watch out, Arians can read tons from staring at poo. These trackers are legit, they won't track down one just to track down one, they want a winner. If one's around, they'll track it down, and they won't kill it like the last tracker did.

That is the point... Lindley is still part of the new regime and it seems they did not track long because he was already part of the team when they found him. Arians apparently has starred at the poo we called Lindley and approves lol

Arians already has a suitable back up in case Carson goes down. As the O-line improves and we run the ball more, playing third stringers will hopefully be something in the past. Lindley being a third stringer is about right, he has had gametime experience, I don't know why, but he's just supposed to be on the pine anyways. No need to do anything right now, and still no need to force a pick in the draft.
