I would like to beat everyone to the punch with the "There is no way we can keep him and Fitz, there is no way we can pay him that, and if he can get better money elsewhere, then we just have to let him go" 3 or four years down the line if he becomes another Boldin scenario lol

that may be the case. But I'd rather have a great #2 for 4 years and then hopefully pick up a more affordable option in FA or in the draft in later rounds during those years. Fitz was basically on his own last year, we NEED a good 2nd option ASAP, as unbelievable as Fitz is, he can't do everything. I thought Manningham would have been ideal, but Graves slept in on that one again and let our damn division rival pick him up instead. Maybe, in a perfect world, our team is good enough towards the end of his rookie contract that he'll hook up a hometown discount and our FO miraculously figures out how to shuffle around some salaries to free up enough space and also they learn how to restructure guys before they get pissed and just want out. But some people say that I'm a dreamer...

Sweating keeping a brilliant skilled player does sound much more appetizing than waiving a bust Levi Brown style.

I agree, we should avoid any players that have talent in the draft so we don't have to worry about a second contract.

because we all know we want pro bowl caliber players at every position and we all know that then we must grip if cap wise we are unable to hold on to a small percentage of that number lol and for the record...I would be very happy with drafting Floyd as well as DeCastro :)

Better to have a problem with keeping talent then having a problem of not having talent.

Also give our FO a chance to maybe get better at that proactive trading thing?

Plus I hate to say it, but fours year from now who knows what ANY NFL player will be doing, even Larry. He'll still be a good age, but it always possible he slows down, gets injured....so you never pass on a player that can help the club because of a problem that may arise years from now.

FItz was drafted two years after Boldin, Floyd would be drafted EIGHT years after Larry. Now imo is getting close to a perfect time to draft another stud WR. That doesn't mean I want a WR in the 1st, but I wouldn't sweat it. I just don't want a Bryant Johnson in the 1st round.

Plus we've been fortunate Fitz has missed very few games. Going forward, we'd be royally screwed if he missed a good portion of games. Not so much with the insurance policy = namely M. Floyd.

FTFY because I know you knew that.

Your Bryant Johnson comment is right on the money. I don't care what position the Cards take in the first round as long as they are a Fitz or a Peterson or even an Antrel Rolle or Dan Williams and not a Wendall Bryant or Bryant Johnson*. Picking the wrong guys in round one, and two and three for that matter, has been a far bigger problem for Arizona than (the perceived notion) that the Bidwills are cheap.

*Hmm...I guess we're good as long as they don't draft a Bryant in Round one.

And they also got guys like Cody Brown and J.J. Arrington and Alan Branch and Levar Fisher and Michael Stone and Johnny Rutledge and :barf: Leland McElroy.

There has been a change for the better though since Steve Keim has risen in the organization.

lol, I know. I only really went back as far back like 8 years. But I do think the good outweighed the bad... as far as 1st rounders, I don't think I could say that

McElroy was no worse than the rest, you're only puking over him because he was an Aggie:)

Drafted the BPA.

Worry about extending him later.

We sign Floyd to a 5 year contract, and Fitz will be 33 years old by the time we would have to worry about re-signing Floyd.

Not to mention. Do we think it would be "cheaper" to sign an OT ? A good OT is more expensive then a good WR.

I am not a big fan of Floyd (inj issues, off the field issues, consistency issues), but if he is the BPA, so be it.

No, though that would be a good enough reason. A source close to the Cardinals told me the other players called McElroy the tip toe bandit because he tip toed up to the line of scrimmage on Sunday and stole his paycheck on Monday. That a serious condemnation of a fellow player.
