Ben Roethlisberger.

He's going to be a great player in this league, IMO (famous last words, right?). I'd hate to pass up, for the second year in a row, a future HOF QB. That's right. I said it. "Future HOF QB."

This doesn't mean I don't like Josh's potential or that I'm not in his corner--I just think Ben will be much, much better.

In the NFL (to start my own team): Mike Vick. Young, unbelievably talented, a marketing dream, can win games on his own with his arm or his feet, a natural leader.

In this draft (to start my own team): Sean Taylor. Defense wins championships. Michael Vick of defense, and a playmaker. May do for the 21st Century defense what Warren Sapp did for the 20th Century one. Could go to 10 Pro Bowls, and is a guy that you can build the rest of your defense around.

In the NFL (for the Cards): Ladanian Tomlinson. An all-purpose back that has unbelieveable skills and never seems to get hurt :)stick: _). Can win games on his own, keeps oppositions off the field. Did great things with no one surrounding him this season.

In this draft (for the Cards): Sean Taylor. Our defense needs playmakers. He's the best defensive player in this draft, and possibly the only playmaker. Offensive coordinators are going to have to game plan around him, and that's the first building block of victory.

I don't know if I'd pick him or Rivers if I were picking QB... Rivers has looked awfully good.

Those stats are hard to dismiss, but I'll give it a shot. ;)

His release really bothers/worries me. I wonder if he won't have a number of batted passes early, then try to change his mechanics and never be the same.

Robert Gallery. He'd start the first game of this year, play for over 10 years, and have a great chance at being a pro bowler his entire career. He'd make the entire offense better, and CREATE playmakers along the way.

Quarterbacks? The most highly touted quarterback to come out in a while is Mike Vick. The Chargers are ridiculed for passing on him, yet ...

Mike Vick first three seasons:
331 completions-634 attempts-52%-4306 yds

Jake Plummer first three seasons:
682 completions-1224 attempts-55%-8051 yds

They both took their teams to the playoffs once, in their second seasons.

If Sean Taylor is the Michael Vick of defense, We'd be better off taking the Jake Plummer of defense, whoever that is.

Are you saying that Plummer was as good as Vick?

Vick was also injured a lot and his rushing ability is unmatched.

If the Cards stay @ 3 and get either Sean Taylor or Larry Fitzgerald then I would be happy. In my opinion these are the two players who will have the greatest impact on our team. I completely agree w/kerouac9 in the fact that Sean Taylor is the best defensive player in this draft.
If the Cards were to get Taylor I don't think Adrian Wilson would have much of a problem moving to corner. I mean he played corner in college and his rookie year in the pros. In a time that the big receiver is the future of the postion, why wouldn't you want a big physical corner to match up with them. I'm excited about this draft, and I feel good about coach Green's decision making ability.
Go Cards!!!

Adrian Wilson was a safety during his time at NC State. I think you have him confused with his former WolfPack teamate Brian Williams, now with the Vikings. Williams moved from safety to corner.

Phillip Rivers. The best player at the most important position. Guaranteed he'll go before Roethlisberger AND be a superb pro.

Second choice, in the NFL right now, I agree with Lex, LaDanian Tomlinson. He's headed for Canton, barring injury.

Huh? When has Wilson ever played Corner in the NFL or college? Moving from CB to safety we hear about all the time but safety to CB rarely ever is successful.

I think we need a CB more than we need a safety, I am not ready to give up on Wilson just yet and I would be pissed if we selected a safety(Taylor) at #3 in this draft the only thing that would probably piss me off more(aside from a stupid trade ala last year) is if we selected Gallery...we already have the next great OLineman on the roster or do we all forget Leonard Davis' pre-draft hype a few years back?

IF Fitz is gone at #3 and we manage to trade down to say #7 and pick up an extra 2nd round pick then sure I am all for Taylor, just not at #3 overall.

Confusing me and Lex now, Skkorp? Damn. I'm a little hurt, man. A little hurt. :(
