I wonder how the Lakers feel, I mean they had all the help the refs could give them and they still couldn't pull it out.

Props to the T-Wolves for overcoming the horrible officiating and loss of KG in OT and they still win. It must feel really bad to have a game handed to you and not be able to pull it out.

These refs should be suspended for the rest of the playoffs.

John Thompson is off his rocker if he thinks Garnett fouled Horry.

Good thing Ainge was the voice of reason. He didn't hold anything back.

If Stern doesn't take PUBLIC action against these refs, then there definitely is something amiss.

Sit down Laker fans. You can now talk on your cell phones once again.

Oh thank goodness someone started this thread. I am so pissed off watching this crap. What a freaking joke that was. 2 no contact fouls called on Wally. Then Fox shoved him out of bounds and no foul is called. I'm so sick after watching this. i simply couldn't believe my eyes.

Kudos to Ainge for calling this BS out...

I'm about ready to bet money that a replay system of some type will be adopted in the NBA.

Horry really did not shove Wally out of bounds, IMO. There was a little bit of contact, but I wouldn't have made that call. However, there was more contact than on the previous play where Kobe Bryant hit the three-point shot.

Kevin Garnett fouled out and at least 3 of his fouls were a flat-out joke. The worst call of the night was the one on Wally in overtime when there was 6" of air between him and Pargo.

George Karl should stop complaining about the BS at the end of his game and helped the Timberwolves. Hey George you are just lucky they didn't call that obvious traveling on Kukoc. There was no foul on Martin, and Tim Thomas hacked to put Rogers on the line in the first place.

like i said earlier...a lot of plays technically were fouls....meaning there was contact. but they were almost all no calls....that foul for pargo was bs....i cant believe they give him a call like that against an allstar, but wont give amare anything

okay - that was the worst officiated game I have ever seen - even my friends who I watched it with who were die hard Laker fans said they felt bad about the game. Our game may have had some questionable calls - but it was nothing compared to that travesty I watched tonight. That was absolutely disgusting.

man, good thing you guys posted to, i was ready to start a thread!!!! man i was so pissed watching the game. john thompson was talking about how great horry and fox were because they could make "veteran plays" in crucial parts of the game...

a word for thompson...they are called flops, hacks and dirty plays not veteran plays!!!!!!!! give me a break.

i haven't chimed in on the officiating over the last few months, but now it's time. it is total crap. the t wolves played great d and props to them for keeping their heads for the whole game. keeping their cool got them the win, despite bs calls. i was sitting their watching the game, gettign sick to my stomache from bad calls. something has to be done about these refs and the nba refs in general. especially in a game that means so much.

fortunatly the ref that was handing the game to the lakers on a silver platter tripped over derick fisher who was sitting on the floor after he fouled out:)

i'm happy the t wolves won, but they got lucky. they weren't supposed to win. i'm sick of that type of basketball. i can't imagine if la would have won how i would be feeling.

go t wolves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

John Thompson doesn't bother me as much as Walton, but he's almost as bad. Constantly trying to tell us we didn't see what we saw, at times I wonder if I'm watching a different game than he is. That game was as bad or worse concerning the officials as the Kings series last year. Thank you Wolves for pulling this out!
It's gotta be tuff playing 5 to 8 out there on the court. Thompson should go into politics, he's full of s**t and can look you in the eye while trying to sell you a lemon. Come on T-Wolves, take LA out!!!!!

Why do so many commentators think it's an admirable, praiseworthy thing to cheat and get away with it? Why don't they ever get called on the carpet for it? Children watch these games — what kind of message are we trying to send?

I'm working on a letter to the NBA. Let me know what you think of it:

I am writing with great concern over poor quality and slanted officiating in the NBA.

The latest example of this travesty is Game 3 of the first-round playoff series between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Los Angeles Lakers. I will not enumerate the horrible calls here, as I assume that you are already familiar with them, or shortly will be.

You should also be aware of what happened to the game show industry in the aftermath of the "Twenty-One" scandal. It took decades to recover. The NBA is headed down that same path.

There may be no Herbie Stempel of the NBA. The dramatic incident that destroyed game shows will be a gradual process with the NBA. However, the process has already begun, and is accelerating. If it is not corrected quickly, it will destroy the league.

Do not expect the public to trust you to address this matter behind closed doors. You have been claiming for many years that you are doing so, and these claims are no longer credible. You have lost the public's trust.

The problem must be addressed in a manner that is open to public scrutiny. Publish your process for evaluating referees' performance. Publish the rewards and sanctions received by each referee, along with detailed explanations of why each referee receives the rewards/sanctions that he (or she) receives. Publish all this information in a timely manner. Allow the media and the general public to scrutinize this information in order to ensure that everything possible and appropriate is being done to protect the integrity of the game.

It may seem embarrassing to air your dirty laundry in public, but everybody already knows that you have soiled your pants. Do not continue to sit contentedly in your own filth. Clean up the mess, or fade into irrelevance.

Did anyone else watch sports center today? There was no mention of questionable fouls in that game. In fact they talked about several of those plays like they were great plays by the Lakers. I could understand after their big contract with the NBA. However wildly were showing highlights of the New Jersey/Milwaukee game Linda Cohn said the offensive foul call begins Jason Kidd in last-minute was questionable. It could not have been a more blatant offensive foul! I mean Payton did flop to get the attention of the officials, but JK totally hooked him with his off arm to get by.

I still think George Karl is off his rocker to be complaining about the officiating at the end of that game. If anything the officials helped his team.

Great letter Capologist.

I hate to pull out the conspiracy thing but damn it was so blatant. Just the number of bad decisions by the refs was absolutely incredible.

But here is my question. Why did they start the game at 8:15 Pacific Time instead of the normally scheduled 7:30? Why do I ask this question? because that means the game didn't even start until 11:15 on the East coast. That means the bad calls didn't start happening until what, 1:30am Eastern time? Which means less chance for half the country to see the game. Less chance for media to comment. Hmmmmmmm.

I want to know who makes the decision to bump the game time?
