i have been firmly entrenched in the cardinals camp for years now, but it wasn't always so,
let me tell you a little about myself, i am 41 and i live in fresno california,
when i was a kid before the era of sunday ticket we had to watch regional games, being in the san francisco region we of course got the 49ers games,
now back in the 70's the cards actually got some national play,
i especially remember the cards cowboys games they were always good and for whatever reason being a kid, certain things grab your attention and i remember seeing the red bird on the helmets and thinking that was cool,
but not getting the games much didn't give me an opportunity to cultivate a love for the cardinals,

now the 70's were pretty lousy years overall for the 49ers, we were consistently pretty bad, not as big a drought as our beloved cardinals but it sucked being a 9ers fan back then as much as it doe's for us today,
but you carried on and endured the taunts of the rams fans of that era,
then something wonderful happened we got a new coach named bill walsh who drafted joe montana, we had
a cinderella season and the rest is history,
you all know how it went, i still remember sitting at my grandmothers house watching montana hit clark for the catch in the nfc title game to beat dallas, i was 16 years old and i was just ecstatic and then we go on to the superbowl to win over cincinnati, how very proud i was
so having spent much of my young adult life being a niner fan, and keeping track of the cards on the side, i had the opportunity to live in phoenix for 7 years, it was there that my love for the cards was allowed to blossom.
my wife and i spent many a sunday on the hot bleachers of sun devil stadium cheering and hoping for that magic season, the one that turns the whole league on its ear, but except for our flirtation with the playoffs in 98, it never came.
how i long for us to turn it around, having felt the joy and pride of rooting for a losing franchise that turned into a winner i can tell you that there is nothing else like it, i suppose i am hear for the long haul, but i tell you it gets harder every year to get up only to be let down again,
i just have to keep telling myself in the end it will be worth it,
well sorry for the long post, but i just wanted to get that off my chest,
hang in there true believers, it'll happen for us someday

I used to be a Bills fan when I lived in Buffalo (born in 1987) and for the first few years in AZ (94-99/00/01).

I got to watch my beloved Bills lose 4 straight Super Bowls.

I cried in 1994 after their 4th and final Super Bowl loss.

I'm just cursed.

well arthur, i'd love to see the cards get to four superbowls, even if we didn't win any, its a lot better being recognized as the second best team in the league, than it is a perpetual doormat

Being a St.Louis Cardinals fan evens out being an Arizona Cardinals fan.

I can't imagine what it must be like being a Cubs fan and an Arizona Cardinals fan.

me either...I am a dual cards fan as well. Thank God for the baseball cards...26 years and one "real" playoff game, it has been atrocious. Usually I do this with caps but my morale is low. goooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cardsssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

I too am a dual Cards fan. I started following both Cardinal teams in 1964. My Dad is a dual fan now, but he was primarily a baseball Cardinal fan 1st. I grew up in Syracuse, NY & all my relatives were Yankee fans. The 64 World Series pitted the Cards & Yanks. My Uncle lived next door & bought a brand-new Zenith Color TV. Because of that, all my Uncle's (Yankee fans) would gather there to watch the games. They tortured my Dad throughout the series, but my Dad would wink at me & said we would get the last laugh. When the Cardinals won game 7, I jumped out of my seat & reprimanded everyone in the room. I was 6 & proclaimed "Don't you ever laugh at my father again". From that day on, I loved the Cardinals & HATED the Yankees & I still do. I began following the football Cards that fall when I realized they went by the same nickname. I lured my Dad in to root for this miserable organization. He still gives me grief for that. But they had some decent teams in the 60's & mid-seventies (Coryell). When Jacke kicked the field goal in 98, I was so happy I cried. My sons are Cardinal fans also now, so I can only hope we'll get to enjoy a championship someday. GOD BLESS us Cardinals fans, as we are the salt of the earth.

I can't even imagine rooting for another team. In any sport. My allegiance runs too deep. Once I'm in, I'm in for life. Period. It always kills me how a grown man can honestly say " I'm a ___ fan, and a ___fan." I like other teams in sports, but I only give a rat's a** about my team winning on game day. Cards, Sixers, Phillies, Flyers. That's it. I know there are circumsatnces that may allow it, but it's always been a foreign concept to me.

I started out as a Vikings fan (I was born in Minneapolis), but we lived in Columbia, MO between 1965 and 1969. When my dad brought back a program from a Cardinals-Chiefs preseason game (Governor's Cup game) in '69, I saw the Cardinals' helmet and decided to follow them. I was six, and highly impressionable. Even though we moved to Indiana shortly afterwards, I stuck with them.

With other sports, I'm cursed there too. I started out as a Trail Blazers fan in basketball (for the NBA), but was a Pacers fan in the ABA. After the merger between the NBA and ABA, I eventually moved over to being a full-time Pacers fan...and until a few years ago, I felt cursed with them as well, but at least they don't suck anymore. Hockey - the Pittsburgh Penguins. I go back to Syl Apps, Jr., and the Double Blue unis. Baseball - it changes all the time. I've always been a baseball Cardinals fan, but did follow the Rangers quite a bit while I lived in Texas (1980 through 1992), and then the Diamondbacks after they got the expansion franchise.

Now, I find myself looking at the box scores for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

(somebody please help me)
