Would I trade the Giants straight up? Yes. Because the savings that you'd get for 80% of the production would be worth it. Especially if we're going to a more run-oriented offense. You know that the Giants had a better passing offense than the Cards did last season, don't you? Do you think that's because Warner was a stiff or because the top 3 WRs in Jersey were?

There are lots of good #1 WRs out there. I'll take Miles Austin and $8 million less per season in salary over Larry Fitzgerald. It'll hurt me maybe 5% over the course of the season, but I cam make the rest of my team better with the savings.

Breaston started 9 games in 2008. Let's not pretend that he's Jason Avant. He's a solid #2 WR who put up some good stats on a team that passed all the time because their QB was hot and their RBs were not.

Do you think that Bryant or Shipley will have worse numbers than Early Doucet? Because Doucet has played in 6 games? Will Doucet even be healthy to begin the season?

I know that you're a great fan of the team, but I don't think you watch enough of the rest of the NFL to know what you're talking about here...

K9 I see some of your points but disagree about where you rank the Cards WR corp.

1) 1st of all there is no cap so comparing the GMen to the Cards & Austin to Fitz money wise is ridiculous!!! While Austin's star is pointing upward, he needs to perform at a high level again.

2) Jason Avant? WTH has he ever done? Really...you are way out there on that one.

3) Jets? Holmes is vastly underrated, Edwards drops more than he catches & lets see watch Cotchery does this season.
My rankings

1) Saints-they have 5 very good ones
2) Colts-Wayne & Garcon may be the best starting pair
3) Pack-besides Driver they are young & getting better
4) NE-Moss makes Welker & Edellmans job easy
5) Balt-Q, Housh & Mason make the Ravens title threats
6) Dal-Austin needs to prove last year wasnt a fluke while Bryant takes this unit to new heights towards the middle of the season.
7) Cards-Fitz is a major red zone target, Breaston the deep threat & Doucet works the Lb's. If Williams proves that preason wasnt a fluke he could be make this unit better

I understand what you're saying but we don't know if those guys will be healthy either.

Hasn't Bryant already had an injury in pre-season? Has he even caught a pass yet?

He may be great but we haven't seen anything yet and he had a few problems in college too. I think I'll reserve judgement.

In looking at this I saw that the Cards had almost 100 receptions by their backs last season. I knew TH had several catches but didn't realize it was 63.

Didn't he have like 12 in the Cards first game last year? With that kind of head start it's easy to get to that number. Drew Brees dumped off to LDT some 100 times in the early 2000s.

There's no official cap, but don't pretend like teams don't have a budget for how much they're willing to spend for personnel. It just turns out that this season the payroll number is substantially under the 2009 salary cap.

I like the Giants WR corps 1-2-3, you don't. I like young, up-and-coming players. I don't like the Ravens' WR corps because I think the only guy there you can depend on is Derrick Mason and he's older than you and I put together. No big deal.

Jason Avant has gotten better every year that he's been in the league. 14.3 YPC last year and 3 TDs. He's a very, very good #3 WR who knows how to move the chains. 58 targets last season and one drop; 43% of his receptions resulted in a first down. Just because you don't know who he is doesn't mean that he's not good.

I think that the offense makes those players look better in Green Bay than they actually are. The offense and the Quarterback.

Anyway, I think we can agree that the Cards do not have the best WR trio in the NFL, bar none. If Pittsburgh had found a way to keep Santonio Holmes around, they might have had the best corps in the NFL. Holmes, Wallace, and Ward would have been a very nice group.

I understand. We watched Centers and Pittman (73 receptions in 2000) for instance. I was just surprised that TH's number was that high because it just didn't seem like they threw to him like they did Pittman and Centers. Probably because our WRs were so good that it just wasn't expected and so it really didn't register.

Sort of a quiet 63 you might say.

Hey mods - Would it be possible for you to set up a special thread titled "Darkside Hall of Fame" - with DuckJake's rant the first post?

Then - if and when the Cardinals unexpectedly win a game or reach an unexpected W & L plateau or one of the players he rips does something really cool, we can all point to comments on the thread and laugh our asses off.

LOL

Should have had JRein, the originator of the anti-curse, squeeze you a little harder.

I was just wondering if you were laughing your ass off Sunday night?
