I'm In Desperate Need Of Professional Help!

Since the late Summer of '93 I remember hearing a song on the radio that I immediately fell in love with....The problem was....I never knew the title or who performed it.... For years I tried doing numerous searches on it, but to no avail..... Although, I finally came across the song an hour ago and I have been playing it nonstop since....It turned out to be "Saints" by The Breeders... Here's the song:

Has this ever happened to you?

Freshman year in college I was in town for the weekend and I remember hearing a song on the radio (You guys remember when 1060am back when it was the only "alternative" station in town?). I didn't catch the name of the band though and all weekend I was listening trying to catch the song again.

It turned out to be Los Angeles by Soul Coughing. I went out and bought the album - Ruby Vroom I think it was. Great band.

Edit - wasn't 1060am call letters KUKQ?

Lord.... we have a "music mystery on our hands.... No... it's not a "murder mystery", but it involves one certain song that was heavily played mainly on a Detroit Alternative FM radio station 89X and it was nearly 10-years ago that this song was on the airwaves back then....

Unfortunately.. I've since forgotten the title and the name of the band who performs it and I even resorted to desperate measures earlier today by sending an email to one of the stations DJ and he responded back with 2 prospects that werent it...

Here's my email:

Dear Vince:

You may be of some great deal of help for me. There was this one song
that was played on 89X quite frequently in the mid 90s, but I have never come across it anywhere else. One of the main reasons is that I have never
been completely sure on the exact song title or the name of the band.

I believe the song contains "St. Valentines" in the title and I have "this
faint" recollection that Shakespeare was in the band name. If I can
recall the song consisted of some "lush" harps in it and I believe the chorus had the words "make me happy" or something like that.

The reason why I wrote you in particular regarding this is that I have
since moved to Phoenix, AZ, over 3-years ago and you are the only DJ that

I seem to remember being on the air around the time of my move who also was on 89X for quite a few years.

Any input would be greatly appreciated because this particular song has
been "baffling" me for several years. Thanks in advance.

Sincerely,
Louis ******

His response:

hey louis. well, threre was a band out then called shakespeare sister. i
don't remember if we acutally played it though. have you tried the band
sunscream "love u more" we played that alot...let me know..vc

It was very sincere/kind of him to respond back as promptly as he did despite that it didnt lead me to "solve this mystery"....

Would anyone happen to know the song I'm referring to? It might have been played elsewhere other than exclusively on 89X...

I've gone through forgetting songs before, but always managed to somehow finally "track them down".... However, this one has eluded me for all these years.... Any help would be greatly appreciated.....

I just despise when this happens! :D

Edit: If anyone manages to find this song for me (or produce "any promising leads") a reward may be involved.....

There's a band called Trip Shakespeare that was out late-80s/early 90s (I believe they had albums every year from 90 to 93). But I don't think any of their songs had the word "Valentine" in it. They were a pop/alternative band I believe--close to Barenaked Ladies.

Thanks for your help....I'm checking to see whether or not if its indeed them and I'll let you know......

I've been going both :bang: :doi: for several years and can never "track it down"...

I've "googled" for several years every detail that I seem to remember of the song in question and then some times would d/l songs with "Valentines" in the title and obviously to no avail.....

It seems like I just hallucinated/concocted this song-up in my head, however, I heard it on quite a few occasions... I plan on responding back to the DJ and ask if they archived all their play-lists since the early 90s..Im so desperate to finally solve this.....you couldnt POSSIBLY imagine to WHAT extent....

Edit: It reminds me somewhat of a few Cowsills songs.....

sober is ready when you are... great line.
I regret spoiling it for you, however, here's the actual lyrics:

http://www.noaloha.com/breeders/index.php?page=17&item=26

"Saints"
-Breeders-
I like all the different people
I like sticky everywhere
Look around, you bet I'll be there!
Hot metal in the sun
Pony in the air
Sooey and saints at the fair

Saints alive you're saying
Walk in ... squares
The hid are out, out for the year
It's a lot of face
A lot of crank air
Eroding around here

Summer's ready
Summer is ready when you are

I like all the different people
I like every kind of fair
In the crowd, you bet I'll be there!
Walkin' around
Going nowhere
Seeing Sooey and saints at the fair

Summer is ready when you are [2x]
Summer's ready
Summer is ready when you are
Summer's ready
Summer is ready when you are

It's a lot of face, crank air
Walking ... squares
In the sun

Summer is ready when you are
I must admit... I intially thought that she was saying sober as well and I actually like that idea better..especially since the song is rumored to be about singer's Kim Deal's battle w/her Speed addiction....

Regardless.. it's still an impressive song indeed and will never be forgotten... Would just love if they reunited... Hey.. if the Pixies did.. why not the Breeders?

This looks like a good spot to see if anyone here knows what band I am talking about. I know the name of the tune but not the band.

I first saw the song at a AMC movie theater. You know how they do those movietunes before the movie even starts where they show some of the more unknown musical artists and their songs. Well They were showing this band and their song about a year ago. The name of the song is "Amnesia" (no pun intended) and they announced that the band was I believe, voted best rock band in California, may have been southern california or best performing rock band in california. Something along those lines.

Anyone know the name of that band. I have been looking forever.

I even went to their website, but forgot to bookmark it.

Well.. another full year goes by and I still havent solved this musical mystery.....

I know several have since registered and post in this forum, so I am wondering if any of you may know what song I've been trying to track down for the longest time...

If someone actually does..... well.. I will owe them substantially... especially a major debt of gratitude....

I've been trying to track down this rapper I used to listen to way back when. the 2 songs I remember are a remix of Dionne Warwick's "Do You Know The Way To San Jose?" and "Mary Mack"....

Mary Mack Mack Mack
All dressed in black black black
She wanna do it in the front front front
But I'ma hit it in the back back back

Very clever lyricism....

It was Rock.

They were voted by some magazine as California's best rock band in 2004 or 2005 or something like that.

I tried the movie tunes web site but their site is under construction so I cant ask anyone there yet either.
