Marty Robbins - You gave me a Mountain ​

Growing up that was one of my favorite Marty Robbins songs. Don McLean also did a solid version but Elvis killed it on his live "Aloha from Hawaii" telecast in the early 70's.

Frankie Laine did a good job with the song as well. He actually made it a hit but it's the passion that Marty Robbins puts into the song that makes it special. He also wrote it.

I think that's mostly because it wasn't released as a single by Marty. For myself though, I'll take the Elvis version. He was no longer at the top of his game but he did a very powerful version IMO.

But wife falls asleep to the show Grace and Frankie every night and it’s the theme to that show. I’ve heard this damn song way to many times now

Yeah it was a great song for its time but it has long been one of the most overplayed radio songs for stations that focus on 70's music. That and Steely Dan's Rikki Don't Lose That Number almost make me scream everytime I hear them. On some level, I still love both songs, I just don't want to hear them very often.
