DEAL WITH IT!
Sure Ross openly missed seeing the guy he should have blocked which in turn caused a fumble and a TD for the Bears. No one standing in front of him should've been a big clue to look for a defender.
Sure the officials should have blown the whistle as it was plain that the Bears defense had stopped Edge's forward progress before the ball was stripped and ran in for a TD. His legs were wrapped tight by a defender with 2 more pulling him backwards.
Sure we still have a problem with coverage on special teams. I thought that was evident throughout the game, not just when it was run back for a TD. I don't know if Player is part of the problem or not. Could he be too old at this point? It seems like he's taking a long time to get the ball out.
Sure Rackers missed another key FG. I don't think his head has been right since the Seattle game when he was rushed onto the field and missed that pressure filled kick.
Sure we still can't really run the ball. I think the play calling is still too predictable. We still seem to go to the run on the first 2 plays when we get near the red zone. The only times we don't, it seems, is in the first quarter and we score. This is where I would like to see play action.
What I am upset with was the obvious bias by everyone towards the Bears and against the Cards. As I said in a previous post, the broadcasters already had the Bears in the Superbowl, possibly with an undefeated season. While the Cards were dominating, they more attributed it to the Bears not playing like they should. Yes they gave praise to Leinart, but everyone already knew he would be special. They gave some praise to Boldin and Wilson, but as a team the Cards were filed under doormat. Is it too hard for them to mention that if the Cards manage to get away from hurting themselves that this team is a serious threat in the NFL? Our own media is guilty of this as well and they should be ashamed of themselves. They above all others should see the progress this team showed against the vaunted Bears and they should be the first to point it out and not so eager to pile on.
This team is not the same bad team that we suffered through with Mac. It hurts us more only because we can see them on the brink of showing the world what we have been waiting for, a true contender. A team that will vindicate our faith and our suffering. I'm not upset with the Cards as I think they showed alot of improvement. Sure I would have preferred the win and I know there are no moral victories, but I saw real progress last night and it gives me hope.
Except for 3 key plays, one of which I attribute to the officials, our Cards outplayed the vaunted Bears. Remember, no other team has scored a TD against the Bears in the first half, much less 2 in the first quarter. The defense forced 6 turnovers. They made Grossman look like the rookie while Leinart looked like a pro. For all of the bluster from their great defense, they failed to get to Leinart like they said they would. Our line outplayed them. Can you believe that? I'm not looking to take anything away from the Bears defense, because that would be taking away the effort of the Cards.
I would like to give credit to Charles Barkley. He gave props to the Cards on national tv about the improvements they've made, yet it wasn't through rose colored glasses. He called the Cards out about getting too conservative when they should've been aggressive. The rest could learn from him.
