Coutnless sources are hinting at the cards selecting Trufant. He's good but won't make that big of a difference. Maybe the cards should just rin dime every play because they wont get any pressure on the QB anyway. Someone make me feel better about possibly picking Trufant.

sorry, but TOM KNIGHT here we come again!

maybe we should just not play defense at all - that way we get the ball back sooner.

wouldn't you love to actually see more than 1 sack in a game?

 If the Cardinals draft Trufant at six than we need to burn a Rod Graves effigy.

why would we even need a punt returner if we can never make the other team punt?

well, i guess we will have to return a lot of kickoffs...

That is simply unacceptable. The selection of Trufant, not the burning in effigy of Graves. Hell, for that, I'll light the match.

I truly think Barrett is a solid player. He isn't that bad even with a non-pass rush. Take two seconds off the coverage time he would look a lot better. No to trufant, im ok with Kennedy or Robertson though.

please just bring in someone so the opposing qb doesn't have enough time to call his grandma and have a smoke before throwing the ball. last year's phila. game made me think that my 90 year old grandma could have beaten us.

I agree...but he is in the last year of his contract...that's something the Cards might be thinking of.

I can list a bunch of other arguments why they might take Trufant, but I think Section 11 covered it in another thread and don't want to re-hash them all.

I'll say it again. DL, and thus generally speaking a pass rush, is deep in this years draft. CB sees a dropoff after the top 2. Why not take one of the top 2 CBs and then address pass rush in rounds 2 & 3? There will still be pass rush talent there and then the Cards can have Barrett (whom I believe is a very good nickel but only an average #2) play nickel along with Starks and Trufant plus let's just for kicks say they add Redding and Peek (since I have seen some suggest Peek might be there for us in round 3). Not too bad.

Now, I am not sure I want to give a #6 for Trufant so this is dependent on the Cards trading down a bit but that would only mean an extra pick somewhere along the way.

This might all be a way of getting a trade done though.

I actually think some of the DL are overrated and there are some good second round CB to be had this year. I think CB depth is important, but being able to create pressure on defense is more important to us. To me, Trufant is NOT tom Knight. But he's not better than Suggs.

He's very good but I agree 6 is too high we could move down and probably still get him but the question is how far since he's moving up the draft.

I wouldn't be crushed if we moved down got an extra pick and got Trufant but still we can have 3 really good CB's but as long as we have no pass rush it won't matter. I expect Bryant and Johnson and KVB to improve but I'd sure feel better getting Robertson or Suggs.

I know what you mean. But picture that sinking, slightly nauseus feeling you'll have watching Tagliabue announce that some other team selects Terrell Suggs.

again he's a very good player but he's not one of the top 6 players in the draft so you shouldn't pick him at 6 if you don't have to.

No. The reason I'm endorsing Suggs is our need for pass rush is so severe. If he's not one of the 6 best, and he may not be, he at least improves an area we're desperate to improve.

I like Trufant and have no objection to picking him but I think we could get him at say 10-12. I realize it's not always as easy as it sounds to just move down, but I think picking Trufant at 6 would be a "reach".

Right now if I'm picking I spread rumors that Robertson is actually Ruben Studdard on American Idol and has no interest in playing in the NFL. He's the guy I want for the Cards I think he's best fit for our d and he'll improve our pass rush just by creating more 1 on 1's for other guys on the DL. And he can sing(oops that's Ruben not DeWayne).

here is a twist --

Saints want either Newman or Trufant badly--

rumors abound about the Saints trading up with maybe Dallas at #5 or Minnesota at #7 to get Newman or Trufant--

Saints are talking to the Vikes cause they assume that the Cards are taking either Suggs or Johnson

perhaps the buzz is out there to make the Cards no.6 slot more valuable--i.e. Saints, if you want one of the corners, you better talk to us before you call the Vikings

Stuff like this is why I love this time of year

true en,

the possibilities are endless. This is the first draft that I am really fired up for. I think it is because I have been hanging out on this board. These guys will get you going.

With the questions about Newman shoulder Trufant could become the Top CB in the draft. Personally I like Trufant better than Newman. He has better size than Newman and I think his coverage skill are better.

Trading down and hoping Trufant falls would be very risky. I don't think Trufant lasts past #10. If Trufant is the Cardinals guy I hope they just stay put and take him. Much like the Colts did with Freeney.
