I'm Worried About The Shaq Trade.

Now, I love the fact that we got a true center and got rid of mr. Ego Marion. But watching Shaq I notice that he must have pathetic knee's. That really affect's his offense. To be honest, I expected more from him on the offensive end. He's a lot like Amare, in that he can't bull opponents anymore because the refs call them for a charge all the time.

So my only complaint about the Shaq trade, is could we have gotten a better, younger big man? If not, then fine. Get a true center who is old.

I know its only one game but I'm sharing the same pessimistic feelings. This year, the only game I saw of his was against us. I had no idea he had trouble making point blank layups. If all he's going to amount to is a a big body that can grab a couple of boards and make a dunk or two that have to be wiiiide open, then I think the team could of looked elsewhere.

But I'm hoping his inability to make layups is just rust.

the pistons have faced shaq more than any player since the lakers pistons finals so if there's a team who would know how to play him, it would be the pistons...

i understand that he's rusty and having trouble finding his rhythm and as a shaq fan i give him the benefit of the doubt, but hell, i'm not happy about those point blank shots he missed which i personally can make with eyes closed. please, if there's a basketball god out there, let it be rust...

I gotta say after watching the suns get pummeled by detroit yesterday, Im worried too. Its been 2 straight games that the suns cant break 90 points. Looking back at our win versus boston, it might have been boston who beat boston. Not the suns.

What REALLY scares me is that Diaw is gonna have to cover a lot of the slack for Marion's departure, and he has yet to show up.

My biggest worry about Shaq when the trade happened was that he wasn't enough of a force to command a double team anymore. If Shaq can't score consistently one on one then the offense really stagnates when he has the ball down low.

i think a little worrying is good (as opposed to pressing "it's the end of the world" button). there are lots of things exposed in that detroit game which led to others thinking this isn't gonna work. if you ask me though, it's good that it happened early so it's realistically possible to make some adjustments (both major and minor)....

our players are really good, just out of sync. 7-10 games sound about right...

If the Pistons didn't destroy the Suns in the exact same way last year, I might be worried. It's hard to judge the trade at this point but I still think it's a positive one and one the Suns needed to make. It's going to take a while to figure everything out but once they do it'll be fine.

I agree there are some concerns but the boston games shows us what we may be capabile of and detroit shows us something else. Shaq changes alot for our floor and everyone should expect it to take more than 3 games to have the kinks worked out.

Shaq had trouble on the block scoring against Maxiell ..............Maxiell ??? 6-8 PF. This wasnt about scheme, man. Maxiell isnt Kurt, he's no Camby either or Yao. Maxiell doesnt even start.

Shaq's gonna have a breakout game though within then next 3 or 4 games. He's been having them every 5 or 6 it seems (in Miami). Just hope he stays healthy enough to be just a body on the court in the playoffs. But expect teams to pick 'n roll you to death which Shaq struggles with.

Shaq is horrible on the pick and roll on both ends, yet for some reason Phoenix ran him up there a few occasions. I know the system is ad hoc and all but there's gotta be some hard and fast rules like no Shaq picking out above the FT line extended.

D'Antoni is going have to go the Spur route and build up the ability to play two styles. Shaq in the high post even in his prime is asking for too much.

Well,I've opened the Steve Kerr thread because of the same reasons,which caused whole bunch of fans acusing me for being troll,Lakers-Spurs fan.It hurts more when those are the 2 teams I hate most in the history of the game

I agree,we didn't only lose those 2 games but we lost with very big margins.Nash's assist dropped half those games.Boston game we were good but also Boston was so bad,we have to admit.Pierce-Allen total shooting 10% doesn't always happen.

One says,Detroit knows Shaq well from Pistons-Lakers series and has stopped him at the time too.But they had younger Ben Wallace (defensive player of that year),and Mehmet Okur too.But now,they stopped Shaq with much shorter young guys.

Definitely,it's natural we expect and ask a lot when we send one of the best all-around player like Marion plus a solid bench player who has been shooting well recently,Banks.So,I am worried.

Keep in mind that the Heat are getting Marion for all of a few months and are stuck with Banks's contract. O'Neal had negative trade value and that's why the Suns were able to get him. If he was still anywhere near All-Star level, Miami could have gotten a lot more from someone else.

Shaq was not in his prime in 2004. And that finals was just as bias in terms of officiating against Shaq as it was in favor of Wade-gate in the 2006 finals.

But yeah, not the best indicator regardless.

The word according to Gambo & Ash is that the three deals on the table were for either Shaq, Jermaine O'Neil ,or Eddy Curry.
At this point i think it's safe to say the SUNS made the right choice.
I have my concerns about DA getting this thing together w/Shaq in terms of spacing, picknrolls, etc.....but it's too early to make a call on this trade.
I will say this, if Mad Mike can find a way to make this offense "click" i'll be most impressed.

The Pistons won that series flat out, officiating had nothing to do with it. They were the better team, they won, and this is from a Laker Fan. It sucks, and it sucks hard, but I won't cheapen the victory that Detroit earned. They were the better team by a considerable margin in 2004.

After watching all three games, including the Boston game that we won. We got hosed. The people that said that Shaq was done were right. He is broken down and hardly can get up high enough to dunk the B-ball. All he really is now is a big body that will clog the lane and grab some rebounds. That would have been fine, but not for Marion fine. If I had to pick between those three trades posted earlier, I would pick Jermaine[SIZE=-1] O'Neal. At least he has some gas left in the tank. I hope I'm proved wrong in the long run, but I'm really starting to doubt I will be.

I will give the Suns crack medical staff a month before I think about passing judgment. Shaq was injured when they traded for him; there is no reason to expect him to immediately be in Suns shape. Now if Shaq still isn't moving well and they get blown out to the same degree when the Suns next play the Pistons (3/24 in Detroit), then we may have legitimate reason to worry.

I dont worry about Shaq trade. We need 2 months to understand the trade. Steve Kerr will fill marion's shoes with Grant Hill. And get Shaq.
