I am delighted with the Veldheer pickup in FA. Good find, and at the very right price. Nice job FO.

I'll not be ragging on Dansby. He is nearing retirement, and maximized his opportunity for financial security. He played extremely well for us at a bargain price. Good luck with the rest of your life, and thanks from Arizona.

Good to see Rucker, Carlson, and Ballard signed along with Feely. I hope they find real competition for Feely though, (especially in kick-offs).

DC would seem to be a nice fit for Andre Roberts. Good luck and thanks for a job well done here.

agreed with all of this. It's a bummer to lose Los...but I don't believe that's a smart contract, while at the same time hold no grudge for the man taking it.

What at all made you think Mendenhall and Dansby were leaders?

maybe the fact that Dansby was a captain on teams he'd played with...and was consistently referred to as the leader of the defense by BA and SK all year this year?

Hopefully none of them learned from his me first personality and blowing smoke up everyone's arse in order to get a payday.

wanting to maximize your salary, when you play in a sport that could end your career and permanently alter your life on any play...means he's me first and not a leader?

this post is idiotic.

Dansby was a team leader, and he combined with Daryl Washington to form perhaps the NFL’s most agile duo of inside linebackers. He was a huge part of Arizona’s defensive reclamation, so it was a bit surprising when the Cardinals offered the impending free agent just $10-12 million over two years to re-up.

nfl.si.com

Dansby signed a four-year, $24 million deal with $14 million guaranteed with the Browns. The 32-year old linebacker remains a productive player and will be a leader on the field for Cleveland. D

And the most telling evidence of all:

"Karlos was not only a fantastic player on the field for us, he added huge leadership skills to our locker room," Cardinals GM Steve Keim told the Doug and Wolf Show on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM Friday as part of Newsmakers Week.

I think it's both: he is a great teammate on the field and a " me first" person the rest of the time. He clearly could care less about winning. He truly is a mercenary as many have said on this board.

Tate and Johnson are going to want too much money for the Cards liking. I think MJD is a perfect compliment to Ellington and similar in style. I'd still like the Cards to draft another RB(Hyde) but don't think they will.

Exactly. ..I don't care if he called the defense his personality is me first which I'm sure showed in the locker room. He has no desire to win.

I've never really seen Veldheer play so if you have some real analysis I would love to see what you have to say. I've read that he is a better run blocker than pass protector. Curious to see how he faired against elite speed rushers if he faced many. He will see a bunch in the NFC West that is for sure.

Where did you read that? Every analysis I've seen says he's a very good in pass protection including this comment from the Raiders ESPN correspondent....

Gutierrez: He's a beast, at 6-feet-8, 322 pounds, he is actually better at pass blocking, as noted earlier with his shutout of Jared Allen in '11. And that was on the artificial turf of the Metrodome, where Allen got more push and thus, speed. Still, he was improving at run blocking.

I don't understand why MJD wouldn't want just as much money (or more) than Tate and Johnson. MJD is a prideful player. He told anyone who would listen at his Combine interviews that he deserved to be the No. 1 overall pick, and he meant it.

I'm sure he does want as much, or more, but I doubt the market will dictate that being the case. I don't see how his contract will be anywhere near Tate's, assuming Tate checks out as being healthy.

The Bucs made out like BANDITS. They add Johnson and Verner to Mcoy

David, Barron and Banks.

Oh and I still cant believe we got Veldheer at that price. Carry on.

I don't know that any runningback is going to get what they are looking for. McFadden might end up topping the list just because he went to Oakland at 4 mil per season. If demand remains low, I could see the Cardinals in on MJD or Ben Tate on a one or two year deal.
