Lomax to Green 84
Hall of Famer
I am also hoping like heck that Derek Johnson falls to the Cards at #8, they throw need out the door and take him. In round #2, I could see us going after Marlin Jackson CB from Michigan.
However, I see the 3rd round as a real chance to grab some difference makers. Obviously another wide reciever is not a "need", but a guy who runs like the wind and who can take any punt or kickoff the distance every time he touches the ball could be a nice addition. Every time I have seen Miami play, Parrish does something big and the same goes for Antonio Perkins CB from Oklahoma. Both guys have some warts. Parrish is extremely small (170 pounds and will get killed going across the middle and Perkins has some injury issues, but both are playmakers who came from bigtime programs and were bigtime producers.
Every Draft Guide I could get my hands on (Pro Football Weekly, USA Today Sports Weekly, The Sporting News) has both of these guys slotted as 3rd rounders and the interesting comment on Parrish is that they think he will go to a team with an additional 3rd round pick because he is looked at as more of an "athlete" then a guy who can come in and start in the NFL. Pro Football Weekly says that Parrish has the ability to be a gamebreaker on kickoff returns and Perkins is one of the greatest return men in college football history.
There were more than a couple of games last year that could have gone the Cards way if we had more explosion in our return game. Parrish is lightning fast (4.39) and Perkins is just a dynamite return guy who also is a pretty good cover corner.
So there you have it. Rounds 1-3
Round #1-Derek Johnson (I think Cleveland will either take one of the QB's or surprise everyone and take Marcus Spears and Johnson will fall to us at #8)
Round #2-Marlin Jackson (Green likes guys from big programs and Jackson is a guy who can play either corner or safety)
Round #3A-Antonio Perkins
Round #3B-Roscoe Parrish
