IMO the Suns have lost faith.

Not in themselves, but D'Antoni's system. Most of them are not playing with any heart. Mark my words, this team is DONE. :( Their only hope is a coaching change and that might not be enough to save this team. And I'm no troll, I'm a life long Suns fan. My first games were at the old madhouse watching Walter Davis light people up. It's really sad, they had a good thing going but poor management over the last few years screwed that up. :bang:

I really feel for you guys. I mean your team was RIGHT on the cusp of winning a championship last season. You didn't need to make drastic changes like picking up Shaq. All you needed was a few tweaks, like keeping Kurt Thomas and finding a suitable backup for Nash, and you'd be right in the hunt. This entire time I've been thinking what the hell is wrong with your owner, when your paying $70+ million for payroll what is an extra $3-4 million?

They haven't lost faith, they have lost shooters. Barbosa isn't shooting the 3 well anymore, Bell is as streaky of a player as ever. They don't have a Tim Thomas, or a Eddie House, or a James Jones anymore than can hit the open 3. Even Nash is losing his shot a bit. Its the reason why they really want Barry.

Too bad Barry is going back to San Antonio. He's not signing with the suns.

Backup PG.
Shooter.

This domino effect started the day Joe Johnson left.

Last night, this team lost their will to win. At no point, was this team capable of clawing their way back from 12 down.

Chris Paul just absolutely schooled every Sun on the court. From crossing over LB to picking off passes, he owned PHX.

If the Suns don't get better guard play (i.e. defense, shooting)... turn out the lights.

D'Antoni's system is gone.:bang:

He did not want to solve the problems that ASFN members had discussed.

If Kerr is wise, sack D'Antoni and find a new coach ASAP. We still have 20 matches to adapt a new system.

D'Antoni doesn't answer to ASFN. Did you really just say that?

maybe my grammar is poor:(

Did ESPN or Yahoo analysts point out the Suns weaknesses every year?
Their opinions are really the same - no D, 8-man rotation...
Did he solve it?

No!

They are going through a speed bump. They will get a few wins right away and you guys will forget these losses.

Maybe they are trying to with Shaq. Their interior defense is worlds better from last week. They need to shut people down on the permeter now.

D'Antoni has used much more of his bench this year, than in the past too. Linton Johnson got extended minutes last night, and didn't look half bad in flashes.

Nash is the system.

Disagree. Mike D's system is being emulated by other NBA teams, Duke, Tennessee, Memphis, etc.

Nash is HUGE, don't get me wrong. But, stick CP, Kidd, Deron Williams in this system, and you're going to get similar results.

The problem is, Mike D has lost some of the players that made his system successful in the first place... starting with Joe Johnson.

Yup, I'll put it this way. Loosing Joe Johnson cost the Suns a championship IMO.

So far, I have read that losing Joe Johnson, Tim Thomas, Eddie House and Kurt Thomas have each cost us a championship... There's more to it than that guys.

Let''s just look at the departed players vs. the incoming over the past few years...

Team A (Outgoing) - Joe Johnson, James Jones, Kurt Thomas, Tim Thomas, Shawn Marion

Team B (Incoming) - Shaq, Boris Diaw, Grant Hill, Raja Bell, Marcus Banks

Who wouldn't take Team A over Team B? Now I'm not blaming all of this on Kerr as KT, both JJ's, and Tim Thomas were 100% on Sarver. But the reality is you can't lose two guys playing at or near AS level and replace them with just okay players and expect to come out rosy.

You are exactly right. Barbosa and Bell are just not getting it done, and there is no Thomas (Tim), House, or even Jones and Marion anymore. Hill isn't a three point shooter. Neither are Diaw, DJ, or Johnson.

However, that will change. Giricek is coming. Barry is going to SA but Giricek is coming. It's all over the news. Sixers are buying him out so he can go to Phoenix. I haven't seen anything on ESPN yet, but from what I am hearing it's pretty much a done deal.

Giricek would be a pretty good fit here.

I haven't looked at his stats but I don't remember him being a lights out shooter. I think we may overvaluing him at this point.

Okay he's 36.7% career from 3 and has had one year over 40%. Let's not get our hopes up.

Yeah you forgot James Jones.

I have always said that all those above COMBINED over the years is what finally stuck the nail in our coffin. Pretty simple when you think about it that way.

The picks sold also screwed us. Rajon Rondo would have been great and most suns fans before the draft knew it! He could have helped us but D'antoni wouldn't have developed him anyway so we were screwed from both owner and coach on that one.

Grant Hill has played incredible for the Suns. But the other players have been less than great (except the first year by Raja). Your point is well taken. However, consider one thing... D'Antoni and his PG have grown older each year, and the league has grown wiser. When the team lost JJ, they plugged in others and it continued to work. As time has gone on, Nash is older and other teams have learned from the Spurs how to beat the system.

I don't think it is as simple as "those players were better than these players", I think it is a mix of the two theories.

Yeah you forgot James Jones.

How funny - I never would have thought it at the time but that move looks pretty foolish now, no? The 3 point shooting and tough underrated defense is EXACTLY what we could use on the perimeter right now.

Seems like every move since BC left/had his lead voice stripped has crapped out spectacularly.

I would kill to have Joe, Rajon, and Iggy on this team right now. For less money. And by just following the course and not trying to get too cutesy with our moves.

:(
