who the heck has this "Quarterback Factory" produced in the last 20 years who amounted to anything?

Google top quaterback colleges you will find lists and BYU is in the top 5 of every one of those lists from steve young to jim mcmahon to ty detmer.

Right now he IS, just another rookie.

Brain St. Pierre has done more in the NFL at this point.

Keeping Max Hall is a HUGE risk by the Cardinals. Regardless of the hype, and his garbage time glory in the preseason, he is a rookie, and has yet to even see NFL quality, preseason style, let alone full blown NFL regular season action.

Has he played well against players that are now looking for work currently ? Yes.

But he has made some bad plays, and bad passes as well.

I think we should temper our entusiasm about Mr. Hall. I could care less what Peter King or anyone thinks about this player since those same people usually have no clue, or even want to have a clue about what is going on in AZ.

Hall is the cool guy for now cause DA is the starter, if Hall starts and does badly then they will all turn their backs and blame, blame, blame Whiz for the move.

Again. Temper the enthusiasm until the guy actually does something, IMO.

Whiz is playing with fire here hoping DA doesn't fall flat on his face and and if DA does then he is pinning his hopes on a rookie who lit it up in the preseason with virtually no game planning on either side.

There have been a lot of guys who had IT in the preseason only to become unemployed before they had three years in the league. I am not saying Hall is one of these however some of you are so drunk on Hallaid that you shouldn't be driving.

This upcoming season can goes in many directions. If DA fails and Hall can't get it done we could be looking at a 4-12 season. We could also be looking at a 12-4 season if DA lights it up.

If you judge the QB position based on history and previous performance, the Cardinals are standing on some shaky ground.

In terms of playing style, Max Hall reminds me of Tyler Palko (i.e. smart, mobile, good decisions, accurate etc.). I felt we should have kept Palko as our #3 last year instead of BSP.

However, if I recall correctly, Palko struggled a bit in his final appearance against a more complex defense, and the Cards kept St. Pierre instead.

All of which is not to knock Hall. I'm ambivalent. On one hand, I think Max outplayed all three of the other guys in various aspects of how you want your QB to perform. (I'm excited about the guy). And I still feel we should have kept Palko a year ago.

But we haven't yet seen how Max will hold up against more complicated NFL defenses, working with a full play book. And - assuming that there is some growing pains he'll have to experience, we don't know how quickly he will grow into the total deal & a QB we can win with.

There are cliches on both sides of the argument - At one end is the "Blood-lines", "Local School", "BYU Program" which should automatically make him king. On the other end is the "Undrafted Rooks Can't Make It" rap.

I'm not gonna say that Max falls somewhere in the middle (He could turn out to be great, average or disappointing - we don't know; we can only guess). But we'd be better off evaluating him on the basis of what he knows or doesn't know, what he can or cannot do and how quick or slow he can learn his trade.
