ESPN is reporting the Cowboys will interview Newton. This means nothing, I know, but suppose Jerry Jones falls in love with him and wants Newton. He is there at number 5. With Kitna as the veteran, Jones is willing to deal Romo. If Newton was there and this impossible situation takes place, would we deal our 5th pick or some kind of pick swap (Trade draft spots, give the Cowboys a 3rd or something) for Romo?

Before you call me stupid, I already know that there is almost a 0% chance of this but the NFL is boring right now.

Romo wouldn't bother me for a lot of reasons, but he'd qualify for higher than what McNabb was dealt last year (2nd).

Romo isn't one of my favorite players but he'd be a massive upgrade at the position and I'm sure Fitz would be thrilled.

Jerry Jones declared his love for Ryan Mallett a long time ago.

I also heard this morning on Dallas sports talk that JJ is very much intrigued by Newton much the same way he was last year about Dez Bryant...and we know he got his man just like Felix Jones before. If he does select Newton, Romo wouldn't be going anywhere for at least 1 season & probably 2. IMO many here way under value how good Romo is...I would easily give up a #1 for the guy.

His time would be better spent finding some contractor who can install seating.

Wrong - it's zero.

Everything that has gone wrong in Dallas isn't all on Romo
I agree with this, I kinda like Romo; only as much as I could like anything associated with the Cowpukes...

But the question is about his trade value. And while he is younger as Pariah states (3-1/2 years younger, Romo will be 31 when the season starts; McNabb, 34, has four more years in the NFL), I think it would be foolish to assign Romo a higher trade value than McNabb. JMHO.

While I tend to agree personally, I don't know if that would necessarily be true across the league. McNabb went to Washington and had marginal success, if that. Romo got hurt in Dallas, which may have hurt his value.

Personally, I'd take either of those guys over some of the other QBs that have been tossed around here.
