Ok quick question—what movie did you see that told you, “Well, that isn’t for me...”?
I liked sleeper...annie hall was fair...manhatton sucked

then the dude married his step daughter...and in all honesty I would rather stomp on his skull with my combat boots than watch any more of his artsy films.

he wasnt that great to start with and adding "Chester" to the mix makes him entirely unpalatable

Well, heartily disagree with you, but ok.
Roman Polanski is a scumbag, but that doesn’t make Chinatown less than one of the greatest ever American films.

I dont think I am so different in that most people walk away from that which they find truly offensive.
The difference between the two maybe is that woody proved himself a child molester early on in his career.
The fact that he could actually still get financing and crew support just stands as a strong demonstration in regards to the filth in hollywood....hollywood walks away from nobody if they can turn a dime

I'm confused by two parts. First off, I try to avoid this type of "news" because it's often unclear to me where the truth really is so I am not well informed here. Secondly, was there another incident that came early in his career? I was only aware of the Mia Farrow accusation which to my understanding lacked serious credibility and was nowhere near early in his career. What don't I know (besides quantum physics)?

Okay but Soon Yi was 22 when Mia started making her accusations. The same Mia who has shown more than a few cracks in her mental armor through the years. Mia who said nothing until she found out Woody was leaving her. And it's the same Mia that has since been accused by Moses Farrow of being physically abusive to her children and of having invented the molestation charges and of having coached the children on fabricated stories against Allen.

Also, between the two of them, Woody sounds far more credible when he explains the sequence of events that led to the accusations. None of this makes Woody innocent but as I mentioned earlier, it's difficult to know where the truth lies when all involved have personal agendas and so few actual facts are available to us.

I'm not even really comfortable judging Woody as a director. I know what to expect from him and fortunately I learned long ago to just avoid his movies, they simply aren't for me.

Roman Polanksi is in Europe and won't return to the US for fear of getting arrested for statutory rape. A little bit different than Woody Allen. And yet, nobody has a problem watching Chinatown or Rosemary's Baby.

those were both a bit before my time, lol...think I was six when chinatown came out.

Like most people I think...I generally do not focus on directors....you have the obvious ones that they announce in previews...michael bay, spike lee, tyler perry, speilberg..

I wasnt aware of polanskis work.

I looked into it and was sad to see The Ninth Gate as one of his films...it has always been a favorite. But for whatever nonsense it's worth I will never watch it again. as a movie buff I think all we can do is boycott those we disapprove of...in the end hitting them in the money is the only thing they care about.
