Did you see how Melvin was driving on the way into work today? Didn't use correct turn signal once.

This team would benefit greatly from an older, authoritative manager, much like Buck did with those early Dbacks teams.

Gotta love the self described bandwagon fan calling for Melvins head already. He just got extended, he's not going anywhere

I think Stakes is High right now and is shooting his mouth off. Melvin may be weak sauce, but your contributions to this board are far more languorous. Put that Patriot League education to work and actually compose something of substance. I would respect your opinion much more if you provided evidence as to why we should fire him:

- Favortism towards playing mediocre veteran players inspite of our franchise's desire and direction to play our prospects.

- A career .477 manager.

- A personality that makes Al Gore look like Will Ferrell

- Never puts out a consistent batting order. As a result players don't know their roles.

- Questionable in-game management.

Although I hardly am to be confused with a Bo Mel apologist, let's at LEAST wait until, oh I dunno... May to start calling for the guy's head?

If they DO let Melvin go, I think it's pretty apparent they're grooming Gibby to be his heir.

Commish- I do not need to state such obvious facts, it was simply a statement that in deed did stir the boards. There is not enough time in the day to search for such meaningless statistics when any bum on the street could tell you the dbacks loaded with young influential minds which can not be fully utilized with melvin as the manager. I believe the majority of phoenicians would agree with that, sorry for the lack of numbers Stat Boy

Fair enough. But I do find it ironic that you "don't have enough time" to research stats yet you are clearly bored enough to bring up this topic before the season even starts. It's pretty much the equivalent of saying that we should bench Marion in the middle of August.

Terrible analogy. Marion is a player, Melivin is a manager; very different. Ive been calling for melvins head since he was hired, our team is not going anywhere with Bob Melvin. That is like saying Sam Mitchell can lead the raptors to the title. When we all know the raps are going ivoroni. Get my digs. Give me Lou Pinella, Joe Torre (after the yanks dont win it this year), just give me any name that commands respect. Heck, give me Cal Ripken for heavens sake.

Now that you mention it, the Cubs should just fire Lou P. right now. They are, after all, the Cubs.

He did let Kerry Wood get injured in a hot tub you know. Whats next Lou P lets Mark Prior pulls while at the food table?

I agree that we need a manager like that. I think the DBacks are setting Melvin up for the fall for when we tank this year. Essentially it buys them one more year as an excuse. Clearly you "get my digs" about bringing it up before the team even takes the field though...

Hey, I got an idea.

The Cardinals should fire Whisenhunt before he even coaches a game... because you know... they are the Cardinals.

Once again that holds no validity. Melvin has coached for this team before unlike the Wiz.

As much as I disagree with the majority of Melvin's on-field decisions, the young guys on the team really like and respect him as a manager (this is straight from one of their mouths) so he is not going anywhere. And for chemistry reasons he's the perfect buffer between the front office and players.

Normally I wouldn't support the concept of bringing a guy like Gibson in as Bench Manager to breathe down a guy like Melvin's neck.

But Bob Mediocre has the capability of ruining the young players who will be in the starting lineup this year.

One day you're batting leadoff, the next day 7th, the next 3rd, the next 6th.

When management sees the damage he could do, I hope they pull the plug on him and elevate Gibson.

The enthusiam level at post-game press conferences alone would go from a minus-20 to a 99-plus.
