what kind of "thinking" did you have to do while watching A Beautiful Mind? That might come off as a snarky question, but I thought that movie was pretty straight-forward.

Truth be told, I actually thought that movie was awful and beyond boring.

Ha ha. I watched A Beautiful Mind for the first time recently and was going to comment, but it didn't have a thread. I felt the same way about it that you did.

Sorry missed this. Thanks for bumping Renz.

Maybe I didn't word it right. I like a movie that provokes thought. A Beautiful mind did that for me. But it wasn't a strain. It just made me think about his situation and what he was going through. IT provoked a lot of thought for me. It wasnt thought that was "required" to enjoy the movie.

Rather than a movie where there is so much going on that you cant even get up to take a pee without coming back and being lost. There is just so much going on at one time that you have no choice but to keep your brain in full on thought processing story mode. To me personally these aren't the kind of movies I enjoy. They can be good. Like I said this wasn't terrible by any means. I just wasn't as impressed as the rest of you. Not nearly. Teh acting was good. The special effects were VERY good. Just not my cup of tea.

Not gonna happen with a movie that long and my bladder. Specifically why I wish I would have waited for video.

Fan-freaking-tastic movie!

Haven't been this impressed with a movie since Return of the King and I think this movie joins the likes of Dark City, The Usual Suspects and The Shawshank Redemption as one of the best in the last 20 years. Just spectacular all-around. There's a time for movies to be dumbed-down and a time for them to be thought-provoking. And this one was definitely thought-provoking. BY FAR the best film of the year, and perhaps the best film of the decade.

31% second weekend drop = LEGS.

This sucker might hit 300 million when all's said and done which is pretty impressive for an original non-3D movie these days.

I really enjoyed it.

What I thought was cool was that the Inception was, in all accounts, a very simple task. To implant a business strategy.

I really liked that. It was simple and something that I can actually think someone would want to do, rather than some elaborate hoax or something like an assassination attempt or something extravagant like that.

I agree, and I liked the fact that the implication of the story from the previews wasn't what the film was actually about.

What I gathered from the previews was that it was going to be a sort of updated version of "Dreamscape", and follow a more typical summer-movie plot/storyline. As such, my expectations were rather low. I expected a straight-forward, cookie-cutter, X-Y-Z summer movie.

Instead we got a masterfully crafted, complex sequence of events based upon what would be considered a rather simple act; the implantation of a single idea.

I've said it already, but in my opinion this movie was genius.

Saw it last night and would have to agree with everyone who loves it. Easily the front runner for best picture right now.

Finally went to see this today. Simply outstanding. Best movie I have seen in a long time. Story, cast, FX, writing and directing......it was all top notch. Between this movie and Batman Dark Knight.....Nolan is simply my favorite Writer/Director in the biz right now. He has done other stuff but these last 2 efforts both blew me away.

P.S. I do think the end was "grounded" in reality.

The final shot and cut to black at the end of the movie actually got a great cheer from the crowd in my theater. It was pretty cool.

The title is so confusing. I keep thinking it's a documentary about Jake Plummer's career.

same at both of theaters I saw it at.

you know a movie has really tapped into the cultural zeitgeist when my 68 year old father calls me and in an excited huff asks "So, what do you think? Fid it drop or not?!"

honestly, following up The Dark Knight (which was probably my favorite movie seen in a theater since T2) with Inception isn't just impressive, it's miraculous these days.

CAN... NOT... WAIT TO SEE Bats 3 and whatever else comes after that from Nolan. Dude's on a mid-80's to early 90's James Cameron-like run.

If you jinxed his next film, I'm coming over there to kick your ass!

there ain't no jinxing this guy. I mean, do you honestly believe he could make a bad Batman movie even if he TRIED to make one?

I just can't wait till they finally announce who the villains are gonna be.

There is a rumor that Joseph Gordon-Levitt will play the Riddler.

there are rumors that Phillip Seymour Hoffman will play the Penguin too. I wouldn't put much stock into any kind of internet gossip about those roles. When the news breaks, I bet it surprises us much like Ken Wattanabe, Cillian Murphy, Heath Ledger did for their roles.
