The Golden State Warriors have agreed to trade Troy Murphy, Mike Dunleavy, Ike Diogu and Keith McLeod to the Indiana Pacers for Al Harrington, Stephen Jackson, Sarunas Jasikevicius and Josh Powell, NBA front-office sources tell ESPN.com's Marc Stein.

The trade is scheduled to be announced later Wednesday.

Why do I have this fear that Jackson in Oakland is not a good thing?

I guess the Dunleavy to the Clips to join his dad rumors were wrong.

I don't think that trade will affect anything. The only thing that kinda matters is that Diogu will probably help Indiana in about two years.

Plus, Golden State was able to dump two really bad contracts.

GS easily wins this one. they get back more talent that will fit in with their offense, while dropping a couple of their bad contracts.

Nelson wants an athletic big man who will dunk and chuck three pointers. Harrington fits perfectly. I guess the Pacers will do anything to make Jermaine happy, basically trading anyone who will take his shots or cause off-court problems (Artest, Al, Jackson). Murphy is playing crappy this year, and Mike Dunleavy is, well, Mike Dungleavy. Don't know what the Pacers are getting out of this besides addition by subtraction. Too bad they already tried that with Artest.

In this trade Golden St got rid of syphilis (Dunleavy) in return for cancer (Jackson)- you be the judge of who came out on top.

Hopefully Ike can develop quicker in Indy, and learn from Jermaine O'Neal.

The Indiana Pacers announced Wednesday an eight-player deal with the Golden State Warriors. The Pacers received from the Warriors forwards Mike Dunleavy, Troy Murphy, Ike Diogu and guard Keith McLeod in exchange for forwards Al Harrington and Josh Powell and guards Stephen Jackson and Sarunas Jasikevicius.

“We feel we made a pretty significant trade for the franchise that will be good for both teams,” said Pacers President of Basketball Operations Larry Bird. “Trades are always painful because you give up players you like, but in this case, we think it’s a good trade that works for both teams. We feel the players we got will make a significant difference in the franchise.”

The 6-9, 230-pound Dunleavy is in his fifth season out of Duke. In 39 games with the Warriors this season he averaged 11.4 points per game. Murphy, a 6-11 six-year veteran from Notre Dame, has played in 26 games, averaging 8.9 points per game. Diogu is in his second season out of Arizona State and is averaging 7.2 points per game in 17 games. McLeod, in his fourth season out of Bowling Green, has played in 26 games, averaging 5.3 points per game.

The players acquired from Golden State will not be in uniform Thursday night when the Pacers play at Miami. They are expected to be in uniform when the Pacers host the New York Knicks Saturday night in Conseco Fieldhouse.

"We are excited about this trade," said Warriors Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Mullin. "As I've said on several occasions, we are always looking to make our basketball team better and, with this move, I think we have accomplished that goal. We have acquired players who will fit in very well with our particular style of basketball. As with any trade, we also had to surrender players that we like both on and off the court. I think this transaction will be good for both teams and all of the players involved."

well - Bird sounds pretty happy with this one
definetely it will be very interesting to see Saras (Jasikevicius) in Golden State

It looks like Golden State was a lot more interested in the players they were getting rid of than the players they'd be adding. When is everyone going to admit that Harrington is just not very good?

I doubt Indiana will be giving up Diogu.

But I'd do Banks, a filler contract, and the Suns pick for Foster. If you're looking for a potentially available big man who can run and defend the post, he's near the top of the list. Between him and Kurt Thomas, one of them ought to be able to stay healthy.

It does? 16/6 ain't much for a PF making $35 million on a four-year deal.

$8M+ per year for 16/6 is fair considering Boris's $10M+ per year for 11/6/5. I didn't know, though, that we were debating his value in relation to his contract. You simply stated that he was not good. That is the debate and the answer is that he is a decent player and he's a true SF....

Right, which is why, right now, it appears that the Suns horribly overpaid for Diaw. Even so, at least Diaw shoots a high percentage and can make plays for others. Harrington shoots poorly from two-point range and has many more turnovers than assists.

You simply stated that he was not good.

I simply stated that he is not very good. Sure, he's good, he's a starting player in the NBA. Of course I was referring to the standards of starting NBA forwards. By those standards, he is no better than average.

That is the debate and the answer is that he is a decent player and he's a true SF....

Depends who you ask. He lacks the lateral quickness of most SFs and certainly isn't a wing defender. Whatever position you want to call him, I think he's one of those players whose "name" is bigger than his game, for whatever reason.

The problem is on the Warriors he's probably going to play PF. Murphy was supposed to be the PF but of late it's been Barnes with Pietrus at SF and Ellis at SG.

So I'm guessing it will shake out as Biedrins, Harrington, Barnes, Jackson and Davis with the starters with Pietrus and Ellis as key reserves?

That's why I hate the deal when healthy the strength of the Warriors is SG, Richardson, Ellis and Pietrus, so why get Jackson? I hope they intend to dump his salary I don't know his contract status.

Harrington I suspect Nelson thinks he can use him as a combo forward since he loves to play guys out of position, maybe he thinks he's found Billy Owens part 2?

I just can't stand the idea of Jackson as a Warrior though who needs a thug like that?

GS is also trying to trade oft-injured Richardson.

Though I don't understand a trade that could send Monta Ellis to the bench (especially since he's started the majority of the games this season). I'd keep him plugged in the starting lineup and let him continue to develop this year.

For whatever reason, Nelson doesn't seem to like Ellis. Several times he's said he can't play him heavy minutes because he gets hurt too often, that he turns the ball over too much etc. Meanwhile the kid just keeps going out and scoring and playing great defense.

I think Nelson either thinks he's too short to play SG, or not a true PG, and I agree, but like Ben Gordon he's a hell of a player anyways.

Trading Richardson only makes sense if they retain Pietrus and he's in the last year of his contract and all indications were they'd let him walk.

The interesting thing in this trade is they traded away 3 of their worst defenders, Murphy, Dunleavy and Diogu none of them could cover.

Diogu will end up being a pretty decent defender. I'd love to have him on the Suns with KT injured.
