As a Warriors Fan, I am very happy with this trade...
Mullin atones a little here for the huge idiotic contracts he gave Dunleavy and Murphy...both of those players had no heart and I am glad to see them gone.
"Joe Barry" Murphy (as I like to call him due to his horrid play, lack of hustle ,lazy approach to the game ,yet deceptively decent stats ) may put up double-double avgs, but he always grabs the cheap long, rebound and could never come up with the tough, contested, or crucial one.
Dumbleavy never lived up to his draft position or contract; every year was supposed to be "the year" his potential was to be realized. But, the only thing realized was that Dunleavy was simply an average player who was better suited coming off the bench. And I would be remiss not to mention what a momentum killer the guy was with his errant open shots, turn-overs, and bizarre defensive ineptitude.
Both Murphy and Dunleavy were absolute garbage defenders...
Harrington's and Jackson's athleticsim fits nelly's system perfectly and though Jackson is a crazy nutjob, he will thrive with "Nelly-ball" and is a much needed addition to the team with J-Rich out...
What I love about this trade: the W's at least have a shot at re-signing 2 of the 3 promising young players (Biedrins, Ellis, and Pietrus) on the team. Of those 3, I believe Ellis and Biedrins are the priority, Pietrus (yet another player W's are still waiting on to live up to his potential) is expendeble with the arrival of Jackson (assuming he does not go nuts...)
What I don't like about the trade: Getting rid of Diogu. I really think he is going to be something special, but as long as Nelson is coach, Diogu will not see that happen.
All in all, I really believe this is a great trade for both teams, and I actually think--in the long run--it may be argued that the Pacers got the better end of the deal (Diogu)
Now all Mullin needs to do is trade Foyle for Pepsi Machine and a bag of Funyuns and I will be complete.
