I can't agree with the announcers calling this a good defensive effort by the Suns.

We are still getting outrebounded by 10, the Pacers are outshooting us despite Granger going 2-12 and just being off and Hibbert being in foul trouble all game. Basically the best 2 Pacer players are no-shows and they turn the ball over 22 times and it is still a close game.

So when the Suns turn it over, the Pacers or another team played good defense but it is not when another team turns it over. Ridiculous statement.
Nash couldnt shoot for crap tonight. Some of Grangers distress was defense and when they have the kinda huge lineup that they do, they will outrebound us.

4 steals and at least 1 block by Barron.

Either we played some good 2nd half D, or the Pacers got worn out.

Too bad Warrick's minutes are dropping with this new line up.

I must say, Gentry drives me crazy staying with players that I don't think should be on the court, particularly Barron and Clark. However, this is one quality I admire in him and he seems to bring out the best in players because he believes in them. I give Gentry a lot of credit in developing the talent he is given. Although the stats don't show it, Clark is actually beginning to look more like an NBA player. Gentry does not play favorites as evidenced by Warrick seeing a lot of time on the bench.

That's incorrect. Frye has played too many minutes on days that he struggles mightily.

Warrick may be contributing sometimes on offense, but what is his impact on the other end of the court. If pulling him off the starting lineup means better defense, i am all for it.

Are you saying Gentry play favorites by playing Frye even when he sucks?? You may want to consider that Frye is the better of the bigs even when he sucks and they cant afford to sit him.
You also have to remember Frye was moved to the bench to allow Robin play last season. So yes, i absolutely agree that Gentry do not play favorites.

The Suns are not loaded with big men that can play much at all. Frye is the Suns new version of Tim Thomas and we're lucky to have him. The Suns don't have many other options.

Nice game by Frye tonight. I'm glad he is not hesitating and shooting. Dragic played well and so did Earl Clark (well half the time) but I'd love it if Clark penetrated more rather than shooting his jumpers.

It being a back-to-back, I'll take the Suns effort tonight. They played hard.

I think they need to give Warrick a lot of minutes in the 2nd QTR cause that's when he seems to light up the score board. And then just not play him in the 2nd half.

Is Turkoglu more overpaid than Penny Hardaway? At least Hardaway had an excuse for sucking.

Turkoglu for Dalembert. Make it happen.

That's probably financially feasible as they're about equally overpaid. Sac might go for it as they're very well stocked in the front court and they could use more playmaking. As a team they shoot under 30% from three so Hedo could give them a boost there and total offense as well. Heck, it opens up more PT for their young centers Cousins and Thompson, too - it could benefit them more than us.

You'd think they'd be seriously looking to change something - they've got to be disappointed the way the year has been going for them. Looking over their roster before the season started I thought they'd be in the hunt for a playoff spot and the only hunt they're in is for the worst record in the league. Only Milwaukee scores less but they hold their opponents down much better.

Of course, the trade can't happen until the 15th of the month. That's not all bad because we can look forward to it for a while even if it never eventuates.

Excellent call Eric, IMO.

Only Dalembert is an expiring contract and Hedo has 3 more years. That would be complete robbery on the Suns part if the trade went down. Seems unlikely since the reason they traded for Dalembert was to get out of bad contracts.

I was at the game last night & here's a few observations I had:

- Nash is afraid to shoot open 3s... his 3pt shot hasn't been right all season and he's passing up open shots.

- Just when I bashed Gentry for playing Earl Clark over Warrick, Clark makes 3 strong plays in a row (dunk, assist, strong defensive rebound). He also went to the basket strong for a dunk & should've drawn a foul.

- I still don't know why Warrick is in the doghouse... I'm guessing he wasn't happy about being put in the starting lineup & then yanked out of it so quickly. Gentry really didn't give him a chance to adjust to the new role.

- Barron contributes defensively and rebounding (only 2 rebs last night, but good boxing out), but he has horrible offense & bad hands too. Obviously he's not a good jump shooter, but he also really struggles right around the hoop & can't seem to tip the ball in on offensive rebounds either. Teams don't even guard him outside of 10ft from the basket & dare him to shoot.

- Dragic has a lot of heart & pride... I don't know if I've seen any other Suns player turn the ball over & then steal it right back to make up for it as much as this guy has in his short career. I wish everyone on the team had his intensity. He also led the team in rebounding last night with 6.

- Frye had an amazing game & he's put together a few good games in a row. He'll always be a streaky shooter, but if he keeps playing better defense & boxing out then I'll be happy with his play. I know he only had 5 rebounds, but he did have 2 steals & 3 blocks too.

- Dudley seemed like he got back to the Jared Dudley he was last year (at least for 1 game last night). He made some smart plays, shot the ball well, bailed the Suns out with 3s or a jumper at the buzzer & helped keep Granger in a 2-13 shooting night. We needed it on a night where Grant Hill struggled offensively.

The only reason this game was close was because the Pacers were hitting outside shots... obviously you can't leave Dunleavy & Posey open for 3, but when Josh McRoberts (career 32% 3pt) goes 4-6 from 3 then that's not something they were prepared for... just like teams have a hard time adjusting to Channing Frye nailing 3s. Also, any time we hold any opponent under 100 pts then it's a good defensive night... hopefully we also score over 100 pts on those nights :) So far we're 4-0 in those occasions.

My guess is that the reason Warrick is sitting is defensive accountability. There are alot of things about the Suns that I don't like right now, but I really do like Gentry. He has a knack for substitutions, is willing to develop young talent, and seems to be able to hold players accountable. He has a fatherly authoritative presence about him.

Frye mentioned that the Suns trainers are really working with him to build his body up. If he hads decent strength he will begin to use it. Big men tend to develop slowly. Maybe a glimmer of hope with him
