BLOOMINGTON — Indiana basketball coach Darian DeVries' rebuild gets bigger by the day.
The Hoosiers have an expanding number of needs with four players hitting the transfer portal since their season wrapped up and only one incoming signee.
DeVries is no stranger to seeking out help in the transfer portal — he signed eight transfers at West Virginia last year and seven in his final season at Drake — and he will need to work that magic again to help IU avoid missing out on the NCAA Tournament for a third straight year.
Here's an updated look at the coming and goings on Indiana's roster for the 2025-26 season:
More: Behind the scenes of Indiana basketball hiring Darian DeVries as new coach
Mackenzie Mgbako (March 24): Mgbako entered the portal and will be "testing the waters of the NBA" after starting all but one game over the last two seasons for the Hoosiers. He was the highest-rated high school signee of former IU coach Mike Woodson's tenure. The former McDonald's All-American landed in Bloomington as part of the team's 2023 signing class after asking out of his letter of intent at Duke. The five-star prospect was named co-Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2023-24 and averaged 12.2 points per game during his time with the program.
Jakai Newton (March 24): Newton struggled with injuries during his IU tenure. He missed his entire freshman year after undergoing surgery for a knee injury that he suffered in high school. He made his debut for the Hoosiers in a 90-55 win over Eastern Illinois on Nov. 10, 2024, but Newton remained a fixture on the team's injury report and was limited to just four games.
Malik Reneau (March 18): Reneau had an eventful season for the Hoosiers. He battled a knee injury at midseason, became the program's 55th 1,000-point scorer and shifted to a sixth-man role to close out the year with IU looking to avoid having him and Oumar Ballo on the floor at the same time. The junior managed to lead the team in scoring as well (13.3 points per game) and was second in rebounding (5.5). He was part of IU's decorated 2022 signing class — former coach Mike Woodson's first full recruiting cycle — that included his Montverde Academy teammate Jalen Hood-Schifinio.
Gabe Cupps (March 18): Gabe Cupps was the first IU player to enter the transfer portal after the season ended. The sophomore was sidelined for much of the 2024-25 with a meniscus injury. His last appearance came in a game against Providence during the Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament on Nov. 29. He will likely be able to preserve his year of eligibility since he was limited to four games (25 minutes) during the first half of the season.

Trent Sisley (signed): Sisley appears to be sticking with the Hoosiers through the coaching change. The four-star forward responded to IU's post announcing Darian DeVries as the program's next coach with the message "Let's work." The Lincoln City native signed his national letter of intent back in November. He averaged 10.9 points and 5.7 rebounds per game at Monteverde Academy as a senior.
Harun Zrno (decommitted): Zrno reopened his recruitment while he was waiting to hear from DeVries. The the 6-foot-7 wing from Bosnia was a late pickup for the Hoosiers. He committed to IU over Wisconsin, Creighton and Virginia in January. He averaged 17.5 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists for BC Slavija last season while shooting 43.7% from 3-point range.
