IndyCar Series 2025 rookie standings

Two races into the 2025 season, the road has remained tough for IndyCar's three full-season rookies. After his car caught fire during Friday practice -- an issue that essentially lost him full participation in the weekend's first two practices -- Prema's Robert Shwartzman finished Sunday's race 22nd to pace this year's rookie class.

After qualifying 10th and running as high as 8th, RLL's Louis Foster said in the team's release he struggled with late-race pain in the cockpit due to an issue with his race seat and fell back to 24th, finishing one lap down. Dale Coyne Racing's Jacob Abel also finished one lap down in 25th, in-part due to an unscheduled pit-stop mid-race due to a mechanical issue.

As the lone rookie to have finished in the top-20 in the season-opener at St. Pete, Shwartzman continued to open up a small lead on his two rookie rivals early in the Rookie of the Year race.

  1. Robert Schwartzman, 18 points
  2. Jacob Abel, 12 points
  3. Louis Foster, 11 points

IndyCar Series Leaders Circle standings 2025

IndyCar's Leaders Circle program pays eligible teams just over $1 million the following season in guarantees. To qualify for one of the 22 spots, the entry must be associated with one of IndyCar's 25 charters -- teams are allowed to have a maximum of three. Presently, only Prema Racing's two cars remain unchartered. The 25 chartered cars are then ranked by entrant points, and at the end of this season, the top 22 eligible entries will be paid $1.2 million or more by Penske Entertainment throughout the 2026 season.

Here are the cars around the bubble after Thermal:
