A few people have contacted me about trustworthy sites for draft info. It’s gotten tougher in recent years as many “gurus” have left the game. IMO CBS is now the worst game in town. ESPN subscription only is okay. Tony Pauline is knowledgeable. Rob Rang does his homework. Mike Mayock is solid. The rest there at NFL don’t impress me. Ourlads has some good info but is inconsistent. Walter Football has been around for awhile, but lacks depth. Several of you scour the Internet. If you run into any of the old timers, let me know. Please don’t ask me to rate mocks. I’ve already said everyone looks bad this year.

So much harder to find someone who isn't just looking for clicks nowadays.

DJ does a good job at NFL.com. I like that he states his mock is what he hears and his top 50 is how he rates them.

Mayock and Pauline are both good as you said.

Rotoworld has some decent stuff.

You do have to weed through a bunch of junk anymore. Mike Miller at BR is ok.

Really, I just read through some basic reports on players and then go to the tape. I like to confirm what I see at the combine / Sr Bowl / etc.

It comes down to guys hitting NFL norm measurables, and then trying to figure out how they win and if it is translatable to the next level.

I like Drew Boylhart's write-ups at The Huddle Report. It's not exhaustive, but they do a good job tracking the ups and downs of The Process in their value board, and their Talent Board has good write-ups of top prospects.

Haven't had time to review any tape or listen to podcasts this year, new job. But prior years my favorite was Josh Norris. Jeremiah is pretty good too. On the years we were in the market for a WR, I'd dig up Matt Harmon with his Reception Perception stuff.

There are YouTube guys who do video analysis and some seem objective in their reviews, you can't really rely on highlight videos because usually they do not show flaws or mistakes. To me it comes down to production, in non gimmick systems.

If you are checking youtube, one thing to look at is finding a game where a player was really productive, and seeing how they were able to do so in that game. Then go to a game where they lined up against an NFL quality player or against a better team, and see if they were able to use the same skills to impact that game even if it isn't on the stat sheet. It can help you see what they do against a NFL "type" of player vs beating up on scrubs.

Word of caution -

3 draft guides appeared on the shelf of my local ShopRite: Lindy's, Athlon and Pro Fb Weekly.

It turns out that the player write-ups for Lindy's and Athlon are near-identical.

So save your money.

So many mocks seem like they just through the list and match teams up with players according to needs. I always liked Ourlad's mocks because they took the effort to go through the draft in order and based on their knowledge of a team, predict what that team would do. Not just plug a need. It doesn't look like they're doing mocks any more though? The closest thing I've seen to that approach is this guy at Draft Utopia - http://www.draftutopia.com/2018nflmockdraft.html. I don't know what his background is. But I do enjoy his writeups.

CBS used to be a great source. Now it's a complete joke.

Rob Rang used to do much of their info. They let him leave and are left with guys whose mocks look like pull the names out of a hat. Every week their drafts change rapidly.

Joel Buchsbaum used to be the guy at PFW until his passing. He devoted his life to the effort and produced the most comprehensive info on the market. Their current mag is probably the best of the group. Most companies have exited the market due to the Internet. Even there ESPN has significantly lowered the quality of their subscriber info and yet it’s probably the most authoritative stuff out there.

I like PFW's guide but it isn't like in the time of Buschbaum.

I like my guy when it comes to draft info. Problem is he goes into low communication mode this time of year

I asked about some players yesterday and I only get brief answers.

Until draft day that is, then I get all kind of info.

I hope to see him this Sunday for Easter and get some info.

I used to love listening to Buschbaum on the radio.People would say a name and Buschbaum would know where he played and his skill levels and basically give a instant scouting report.

considering most of the talk going on here... it would be great if you could worm out his feelings about the QB's...and the whispers in circles regarding which ones will go where.

that would be awesome. However...it would be nice if you didnt post it until Monday, lol...April fools and all that...

Yahoo's mocks seem to change daily. For example, Josh Allen went #1 in one mock while he dropped to #15 in another.
