There were plays yesterday where it appears Kyler could have picked up 2-3 maybe even 5 more yards. Instead he wisely went down or stepped out of bounds. Lamar is going to get himself blasted sooner or later with his style of running.

We need to keep in mind that just a couple weeks ago, we, on the last play of the game, were staring at a 90% chance of losing to the now 1-3 Vikings at home . We are always just a game or two away from once again being not relevant in the eyes of the news media.

And, where was Kirk yesterday? Did he miss the flight? Or has AJ surpassed him by that much in the coach's eyes.

I don't think there's been any surpassing? Kirk had over 65 yards in each of the other 3 games. There are a lot of mouths to feed in this offense - not everyone is going to have huge stats each game and we are a better team for it.

I also read that Jalen Ramsey lined up in the slot 75% of the time. That could also be a reason for Kirk's lack of production.

yup. just mentioned that in another thread. I think two years ago, I would have been a little annoyed. but now? totally get how he's protecting himself. He's in it for the long-haul and so are we. If there's a BIG GAME and BIG MOMENT where he needs to push himself, I think he'll do it, no questions asked. But he's smart to pace himself. If he's healthy and on the field, he's a human cheat code that can drive defenses crazy and will be able to for at least the next 6-8 years with his wheels still moving at max capacity. and by the time the tread on those tires starts wearing a little thin, I believe he will have mastered the passing game where it won't matter and he'll be able to use those legs just enough when he needs to.

but none of that happens if he doesn't stay healthy, so I'm totally down with him punting on short term pain for long term gain.

Man... I’ve listened to a lot of sports radio today and we are a complete and utter afterthought both nationally and even local in LA where the Rams Cards game has barely even been mentioned.
Yep. Noticed that to.

It's pretty telling. I think a lot of it is because nobody took us seriously in the pre season, and still don't believe in us. I relate, because I did not really believe in this team preseason either - mainly because of Kliff.

If we win the next 2 games we will get respect.

The difference this year, Kyler is throwing more from the pocket. That is a quagmire for defenses now.
Should they blitz him? He could make them pay dearly.
Should they just try to contain him? Well he’s shown he can beat you from the pocket.
Should they play zone? He has developed a patience to find the holes.
Should they play man to man? HA! Turn their back on him is when he’s the most dangerous.
He’s also throwing over the middle and stepping into throws. He’s also the best against the blitz. A nightmare for DC’s

We'll have to carry our fade out from last year around with us for a while

People won't treat us as a playoff team until we are

And we kinda deserve to. Last seasons second half collapse sucked pretty bad. And made fools of a lot of the media who had just jumped on board after what seemed like season defining classic wins on SNF snapping our home streak against Seattle and then the Hail Murray.

I think 5-1 or 6-0 you can start really buying it staring at the Texans next.

Losing two games in a row and the doubters will come out

Hell, lose one and the vultures will come out proclaiming us dead and pick us apart.

When you haven’t been good for half a decade... and you’re one of the perennial losers in league history... you gotta start stacking really impressive wins and build up a real solid body of work before people will start taking you seriously, even after losses.

Right now, I am just rolling my eyes at all the talking heads giving their passive aggressive caveats before they endorse the Cards who of recent they have been crapping on nonstop... Kingbury has 'earned' his hire by the way and it's the other guys who have not earned an opinion lol
The new narrative to take a swipe at the Cardinals is to heap all of the credit on Murray and say stuff like he excels despite the scheme. It's just not true.

Murray is also taking checkdowns more too. And not as the last option, but when the checkdown has a chance at a first down.

Weird, I drove home from PHX to OC today and heard a ton about the Cards on NFL Radio...all of the shows had great things to say. Pat Kirwan even said Cards will be his #1 team in power rankings this week.
