Backup Boston Celtics guard Payton Pritchard is the odd-on leader to win the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year award, but the Oregon native very nearly ended up playing somewhere else, having asked for a trader from Boston earlier in his career when the young sharpshooter found himself buried in the Celtics' backcourt rotation.

Now, the University of Oregon alum finds himself one of the most feared offensive specialists in the league, while having also honed his craft on the defensive end to stop opposing offenses from targeting him when he is on the court. The combination has led to a potent presence for the rising Boston guard, and heads around the league are starting to take note.

The folks behind the "NBC Sports Boston" YouTube channel put together a clip on his rise with the Celtics. Check it out below!
