Tammy Abraham said he aspires to reach the level of Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski as he promised to fight for his place in the Chelsea attack following the arrival of Timo Werner. Abraham finished the season as Chelsea’s top scorer, with 18 goals, and scored against Bayern in their 4-1 loss in Munich on Saturday night. Frank Lampard’s side lost 7-1 on aggregate to Bayern, with Lewandowski reinforcing his status as perhaps the most formidable centre-forward in world football. Lewandowski took his tally to 47 club goals for the campaign with two more against Chelsea on Saturday night and Abraham has vowed to push himself to reach those standards. “For me he is the best striker in the world right now and that is the level I have to get to and better,” said Abraham. “That is what I aspire to be and coming here and playing against him is a great learning curve, a great experience for me. Building to next season and onwards I have to build myself to get to those levels.” After an excellent start to the campaign, Abraham lost his place in the starting line-up to Olivier Giroud in the latter stages of the season and started just four matches after lockdown. The £47.5m signing of Timo Werner has put more pressure on the 22-year-old going into next season, as has the arrival of £37m winger Hakim Ziyech.
