No, they're not but some bloggers are more in the know AND better writers than the "professionals" that write for media outlets.

Really? Which bloggers have daily access to the team and management? Which bloggers are credentialed for every game and travel with the team?

The concept is a bit dubious. Bloggers are more open to speculation. I'll give you that.

For a blog post, that piece is very well written and informative. Tons of stats used to illustrate Robin's impact on the last 19 games. Good read...thanks for posting it.

At least they are somewhat objective. For years Colangelo had every sports writer in Phoenix in his hip pocket.

And how does having access to the players make you a more credible source? Anybody can watch the games and read the box scores.

I'm always so excited to read a Bull Durham quote from one of our local media writers. During the latest trade frenzy Coro didn't seem to have any more insight about what the Suns might do than anybody else.

And while any idiot can write a blog there are some excellent writers out there writing on their blogs every day. Some of them are even referenced by national media outlets. Of course some of them work for national media outlets.

Sure if I want to know personal information about Steve Nash I'll read the local newspaper stories but if I want good critical analysis of the team from and objective source there a lots of other places to go.

I know Coro very well (!) and he is in no one's back pocket. His job is to tell you what the box score doesn't, and he does a very good job of it.

Some of the bloggers do a very good job of analysis, but to suggest they are more reliable than the people who spend virtually every day with the team is ridiculous.

And allow me to suggest Coro always knows more than he lets on, but as anyone who's maintained a beat for a long time knows, not everything told you is meant to be printed.

Coro has been hunted by the big media outlets for awhile now. We should all feel pretty fortunate that he considers this home and has roots set here.

I'll tell you this: That article was better than anything I've ever read from Paola Boivin.

You do realize you're like the mother of a kid with acute chronic asthma every time someone says anything critical of the media.

Pardon if this is a rare discussion where someone who actually understands how the media works gets to inject a little reality into the discussion.

I don't have a problem with bloggers, but their role is greatly misunderstood. They wouldn't exist without MSM.

MSM = mainstream media. But, sure, we've got some soggy muffins, too. Perhaps you've read the Republic's editorial page.

I would suggest that "Mainstream Media" is not longer the "Mainstream Media". When I want to know what is going on with the Team, I personally don't run to old, tired media outlets.

The country is turning the same corner, for just about all news. Print is Dead, and the big three TV channels are dying. Bloggers, freelancers, and even gossip columnists are the new "mainstream media".

Are we arguing if this was comparable to a "main stream" media article? Because blogger in his garage or espn.com, that read was outstanding.

I gotta say Ive held out on the robin bandwagon just about untill 2 or 3 days ago. I kept telling myself it was the hand of nash, and that hes just having a good streak but after seeing the team rebounding and defensive numbers...Hats off to rolo. Id like to see him continue to work on his individual rebounding obviously but man I was soooo wrong about him.
