I'm still happy I came out early," Campbell said. "[Arizona] is a great place for me. It's just time to move on."

The Cardinals were elated at the chance to draft a player of Campbell's caliber so late. They had Campbell as a top-30 player on their draft board. They were actually looking for a running back in the second round, but General Manager Rod Graves said it was too difficult to pass on Campbell.

"He didn't quite play as well this year as he did last year but we still think he is a good player," Arizona coach Ken Whisenhunt said on the team's Web site. "He is a guy who has skill getting to the passer, in addition to being 6-foot-8 and 290 pounds, which is hard enough to find. We just were very excited he was there."

Runningbacks had basically dried up at that point. For that matter, so had corners. Interesting that the plan to get a RB and CB in the first two rounds would have been tough considering the run on both positions.

Yep I just found it interesting that it was our plan. There was a lot of speculation we'd go CB/RB or RB/CB and it's pretty clear they intended to do just that.

Campbell is similar to Branch in that we apparently took him because he was the highest rated guy on our board even though we were picking another position at the time.

I like that. Ray Rice was available, Kevin Smith was available, Hester, Jamaal Charles. Those were the next 4 RB's to come off and honestly I don't know that any of them were Whiz type RB's except maybe Smith.

I like the pick we made, but the RB position had certainly not dried up at that point. Neither had CBs. Granted, we didn't manage to play the game properly to get our RB in the 3rd, but the position was definitely available in the 2nd round. That said, I'm glad we snagged Campbell.

Campbell was by far the more valuable pick. We can draft a RB in the 1st next year when we really need one. Hightower might still pan out. He hits the hole hard and I hope he translate well to the pro game. He seems like a tough runner.

I would definitely call our draft one of the better ones. We didn't trade any picks away and got 3 starters with the first 3 picks. I can't possibly complain about that.

The only thing that bothers me about Calais is that he's from the u. That's three on our team right now.

PFW had the rb's rated (after the top 3)

57. Ray Rice
60. Matt Forte (was already gone)
69.Tashard Choice
79. Jamall Charles
82. Chris Johnson--(was already gone)
89. Kevin Smith
97. Steve Slaton

Campbell was ranked 21st.

Going into the second day we had the 18th pick Rice, Charles, and Smith were still available and I thought there was still a chance 1 would be left when we selected. They weren't.

Instead we got Early Doucet ,who by the way, PFW had ranked 39th.

This oughta shut up any BPA people that aren't happy. Campbell and Doucet were excellent values for the picks we used on them. A RB this year won't do much more than Hightower anyhoo.

The great thing about addressing our only real need with our first pick was being able to sit back and pick up value picks as they slipped through the cracks. A good way to draft in my opinion. Of course we needed a little luck to have DRC available at 16.

I know I thought that's what we'd do, come hell or high water. That was exactly what we did the year we took Pace and Johnson. So, I was pleasantly surprised when we picked Campbell.

Yep I actually wasn't thrilled with Campbell the player (seems like an underachiever to me) but I was happy with the logic of the pick. I like that we abandoned the we need a RB idea and took the guy who was rated higher on our board.

I'm not sure Campbell will be a star but as I mentioned above he probably fits our defense better than Groves did since he can play DE in a 3-4 and Groves is probably too small for that.

At the beginning of the 2nd round, Ddogg, abomb, and I thought all made bets on who would be our pick. abomb said Owen Schmitt..... Ddogg said Ray Rice, and I said Quentin Groves. I'm not mad at the Campbell pick. 6'8" seems really tall for DE though, i wonder how it pans out....

I think that Early is a good pick too. Saw a lot of him.
