Well, According to Wyche over at NFL.com the Cards dont have a shot at #2:

Arizona (8-4)

Remaining schedule: at San Francisco (5-7), at Detroit (2-10), St. Louis (1-11), Green Bay (8-4)
The Cards should clinch the NFC West this weekend by beating the 49ers. However, that's when coach Ken Whisenhunt should get concerned. His team has a way of losing focus, and playing Detroit and St. Louis consecutively could prompt a loss or two that would likely put Arizona on the road after the first stage of the postseason.
Prediction: The Cardinals don't close the way they could and will host a wild-card team, but that is good for them because it doesn't give them idle time to think about things. This is a very dangerous team that could surprise once again and advance to the conference title game.

Whats ridiculous about this assessment is that even if you are going to draw a correlation from last year and our letting up with the division sown up, last year we lost to damn good teams. All of which were in the playoffs or in the Pats case, should have been in the playoffs with a 11-5 record.

So even if we DID have the same mentality (which I think we are slowly proving we don't) I hate to say this but we could literally roll out of bed and beat the Lions in Detroit and St Louis at home. Like no joke. Those teams just don't have the horses to run with us.

I know I know Any given Sunday. But here are the facts: If we can't beat those teams, even on our worst day, we ain't going to the Super Bowl.

And I think everyone on this board agrees with me that we are contenders.

Here is my Cards Playoff prediction.

The Cards end up the #4 seed. The Eagles barely get in with the final Wild Card spot and the Packers get the #1 Wild Card.

The Cards Beat the Packers in the Wild Card round in Az.

The Eagles beat the Cowboys in the Wild Card round in Dallas.

Then

The Cards beat the Vikings in Minnesota

and the Eagles beat the Saints in NO

Then

The Cards beat the Eagles in Az.

...

Yeah I know... it sounds crazy and probably has never happened like that before.

;)
No way! That could never happen!! Too improbable!!! :wink2:

Most people, including and in many cases especially the sports "experts", don't follow the Cardinals as closely as the members of this forum. Hence, they consistently continue to underestimate the team.

And I like it that way!
