I wasn't a poster here when Walter was & by reading this board the last couple of years, I know many or most of you guys don't value his opinion. However, I think he hits on several points in this article. What does everyone think? Agree or disagree?

I got through about half with it and can't disagree with him more, but at least it wasn't a Walter Special kind of write-up. To give you a short example of why he left, he would post something like this (in about 1,000 words):

"Let's trade Zach Allen to the Chiefs for Tyreek Hill and their 2nd-round pick."

Now, that might seem like hyperbole, but he came up with all kinds of dream fantasy scenarios where the Cards absolutely fleeced another team in a trade, and expected everyone to take it seriously. The guy would get so offended when the criticism flowed in he would turn babyish and take his ball and go home. Like, we just didn't appreciate his brilliance lol

I hear ya lol. The numbers he posted positionally do make sense though, even if everyone on here thinks he's a bozo lol.

I don't base anything off of PFF ratings and I don't agree with him absolving KM, but it wasn't a bad write-up, as far as I read.
I'm not much of a PFF guy either. The articles of his I've read, he does seem to absolve Kyler of fault. I know this much, other than Kyler's height, one thing that would help him is to put him under center, I can't say that enough. Probably not gonna happen though. I guess Walter thinks Kyler would be the best QB ever if he only had a top notch OL & 3 good WR's, well duh, many QB's would be lol.

Mitch is a very talented writer. I always enjoyed his post game analysis. However, his articles were always way to long and his predictions and trade recommendations were as Stout correctly indicated "dream fantasy scenarios". I also don't go for these PFF grades. I'm more into wins and losses.

I never knew Walter here. I knew him over at RoTB and I liked him. He certainly knows his stuff and he's had an interesting life with many stories to tell.

But I used to get into it with him all the time because he creates these narratives in his head, would write about them extensively and repeatedly, and before you know it half the fans there are repeating them like it's the truth. And Walter has zero sources for inside info.

He'd write things about why a coach was leaving, or why Bidwill did or didn't do something, and it was all purely in his head. Highly frustrating because most of the time he's pretty good to read.

Walter Mitchel, patron saint of the third-string quarterback. Like you, love his passion, and well thought out, well-articulated ideas.

But like you allude to most of his work on what's happening "behind the scenes" is purely conjecture. Which is absolutely fine, as long as you don't get your internet feelings hurt when some tells you your hypothesis is silly.

And while he was here, of course the darksiders would kick his ass a little for his wildly overly optimistic views of Stoney Case or or Mike Buck or whomever, and he would throw a tantrum while heading for the exits in dramatic fashion, usually with an "I'm out" post. (the infamous "I'm out" post, so pompous... lol.. )

That's one great thing about ASFN. If you have an inflated view of your self-worth, the members here will quickly put you in your place, and you can either accept it, or choose to leave. We're all equal here; nobody is above ridicule, haha.

Oh yeah the other classic Walter move. He'd do the same thing at RoTB.

He had a huge crush on Matt McCrane (the kicker) and wrote several articles on him before of course he was cut.

We'd sign some 5th string OLB that once played for TTU and he'd write 1000 words on why he hadn't made it in his 3 years bumming round the league and how much potential he had, then he would be cut a week later.

I used to call it the Curse of Walter. He didn't like it at all. It's a shame as he's a good dude, just pompous as you say.

He’s a closeted Patriots and BB fan.
Hell, I'm a fan of BB too. Any HC who has accomplished what he has gets kudos from me. His record stands at 254-99-0. Him and Brady were together from the start. I give BB just as much credit for developing Brady as Brady did in developing himself. It was a good marriage. After the divorce in 2020 BB had the Patriots back in the playoffs in two years. To me that is telling that BB had just as much to do with their success as Brady did if not more. 19 playoff appearances, 17 AFC East division titles, 13 appearances in the AFC Championship Game, and nine Super Bowl appearances, six Super Bowl wins.

I think @DVontel made the point that all the really good teams have multiple high level playmakers.

Oline is decent just terrible at guard. Hypothetically we could have a top notch Oline and very good to great WR core if Keim wasnt so caught up with miniature wrs and do it all LBs.

I'm not sold on Pugh, never have thought he was physical enough. I think Justin Murray will be a good guard if he stays healthy but I would love to draft or sign a big physical one to put beside of Hudson.

Mitch, intelligent but flawed in a wacked out way. Every time I read his stuff it seems to have two parts. The first part is inviting because he's smart but then he proceeds to psychoanalysis whoever he's talking about as facts and will talk about the Patriots as the template to everything. The smart people usually are the ones who are most apt to be crazy and frankly he freaks me out with the way he goes from logical to the absurd and then goes from in control to childish when someone calls him out. Thank God I am not the sharpest crayon in 64 color box and my sharpener does not work. The funny reality is that Mitch is actually the perfect person to write about the Cards... it seems like they know what they are doing, and it just goes bonkers

Lol yeah he loves under under dogs and he dreams they can succeed
There was a player he raved about for few years but i doubt if he ever played a snap
Was a pass rusher, he got impressed by one of his sacks(a leaping sack) in preseason

Terrible at ONE guard slot.
