HS Coaching debut went well. Freshmen won (13-6) sloppy game in which we lost 5 fumbles  We we're clearly 20 points or better than the opponent.. (blame the coaching) ;) In the JV game we were alot sharper in a 36-12 win. We physically beat that team up.. Both teams 1 -0 ..Varsity got pounded 32-6  & they're threatning to move up players from JV... :(

Great to come back after a Cardinals win :D : Just wanted to update the Status of the coaching situation. I no longer coach the JV Team, Focused soley on the Freshman Team. We are currently 5-0 & have all but secured the City Championship with a very impressive win over a cross town rival who at the time was also undefeated in League play. We still have 5 games to go, but I don't think that any of the remaining teams will create any problems for us.. Not to sound over-confident...We still gotta go out & execute....will posts some pictures later....go Cardinals

The season is finally over. We finished a perfect 10-0 in the regualr season to claim Denver Public Schools Freshman Championship. We then however lost an exhibition game to close out the season. Overall it was a great experience. I'm kinda torn as to if I want to continue on next year. Public schools offer too many distractions. Kids are always coming up in-eligble,fighting & getting suspended, or just plain not going to school. It's tough when it's the kids your counting on most, or the most talented kids. I've been promoted to varsity as the RB's coach, team has absolutely no discipline, or sense of pride. Very frustrating because the team has so much talent.
Coaching football is what I love, so we'll see what happens. I know I will be coaching somewhere next year in some capacity. On another note a Good childhood friend of mine lives in Chandler AZ & was neighbor's with Ron Milas former DB coach of Cardinals (now with NY Giants). He introduced me & my son to Milas at last year's red & white scrimmage. We conversated for about 10-15 min. It was interesting because I had just came from Las vegas coaching in a basketball tournament that his son had also played in. He could'nt believe I drove from Denver to Vegas then to flagstaff just to catch the red & white scrimmage.(Very nice guy) Long story short Milas' wife did'nt want to move to NY. so she still lives in AZ. Gave My friend a leather ~Cardinals Jacket to give to me since I'm such a big Cardinals Fan  It's freaking brand new. All I had to do was pay for shipping $27.00 next day air. I know it's really hot in AZ & leather team coats are probably not a popular item. But here in Denver, it's a must. I'd been everywhere trying to special order a Cardinals leather jacket, to no avail.... Now I'm Styling BIG TIME!!!

Good luck - congrats on the season and promotion and that sounds like a real challenge.

Are you going to make it down to PHX for a game this year or next?

Edit - we need to get you a name change, you are stretching out the board :)

Thanks alot!!! I would love to come down for a home game this year. Me & my Road -Dog (D-money) could drive down & make a weekend of it. I'll have to contact him & see if he's game. Will it be too hot for my new leather ???? :D :D They could change my name to just "DADDY" :D :D

Well I decided to coach again this year :D :D It's in my blood. We started the Varsity season friday night with a loss 38-20. Kids did'nt come ready to play  I coach Linebackers on Varsity. I am the head coach of the JV team & on Saturday morning we won our first game of the season 19-12. It's a little frustrating because the jv players practice with Varsity & they basically get little to no reps in practice. It's alot of talent out there so in the next couple weeks I'm confident we'll be shutting out opponents as usual :  Again any Cards fans here in Denver wanting to attend some free entertainment please PM me & I'll let you know our scheduled games....Denver East High School 17th ave & Josephine st.

Hope the season is a success and that you get to keep coaching the LBs with the Varsity. Be sure and let us know if any of your guys go Division I.

senior LB/RB Marcus Howell is getting interest from CU,CSU, & Wyoming...This kid is a stud, only started playing football his sophomore year. Other than him, I don't think anyone else will go division 1 since the team is made up of mostly Juniors & soph's.

Indeed I am. Still head JV coach & Offensive assistant on varsity. Denver guys come out & check out a few games this year as Denver East will be playing a few teams from up north. Horizon, Northglenn & Brighton. Ridiculous that we also travel to Grand Junction (5 hrs drive) to play.. See you guys at the Ole Hole this year ????
