I'm about halfway through this and it's awful.

No kidding!!! The tunes were shrill and all over the place, the lyrics garbled and sometimes baffling, the acting boring, the characters not particularly likable and the actors uninspiring. Characters are bumped off for little or no reason. The last half hour seemed "strapped on" so that their movie would be long enough. Only Streep and Depp show us anything interesting at all, but Depp has maybe 5 minutes and Streep, whose makeup was not good in some spots, couldn't carry this thing all by herself.

I had really high hopes for this, but it fell way, way short. There were 4 of us attending this together and we all agreed on how awful this was. This doesn't even qualify as "Nice Try" IMHO.

Note.... for some odd reason, R/T gives this a 70%. I think there was a lot of drinking going on by some of these critics.

Thank god I checked in there because the wife wanted us to go see this one tomorrow. I'm going to have to veto it.

Agreed on just about all accounts. The last 1/2 hour was a whole lot of "WTF?"

They're not going to like it... Especially the 2nd half which gets pretty dark.
My daughter (big Anna Kendrick fan) enjoyed it still; she's 15.
