Times are changing for the Iowa Hawkeyes men's basketball team. With each passing day, a new transfer portal addition finds their home in Iowa City with new head coach Ben McCollum at the helm.
The first addition Ben McCollum made was by getting former Drake star point guard Bennett Stirtz to follow him to Iowa. Stirtz goes with McCollum as this is his second transfer with him after he originally followed him to Drake from Northwest Missouri State.
Stirtz blossomed very nicely in the Missouri Valley Conference last year and was named the Larry Bird Player of the Year in the conference.
Despite entering the portal with his destination already known, he still rates among the best players in all of college basketball to enter the portal. CBS Sports has ranked Bennett Stirtz as the No. 2 player in the transfer portal.
Bennett Stirtz adds an instant infusion of talent to Iowa's offense for next season. Stirtz averaged 19.2 points, 5.7 assists, and 4.3 rebounds while shooting 49.8% from the field and 39.5% from three-point range during the 2024-25 college basketball season.
